for those studying for nclex...

ok guys, i tortured myself for 2 long long long days and found out i passed. however i have huge advice for all of you. Kaplan was great, and the practice tests were helpful. BUT...study mosby's or saunders too. my nclex was ALL content based, and kaplan is not. if you practice the three or four strategies they give you great, but do it with a content based review like suanders. I would not have passed if i had not used that. I also used nclex made incredibly easy for my content review. seriously. the nclex was 10x harder than kaplan, and thanks to my saunders review, it really really halped me out. i had no idea how much i didn't know until i used that CD, and alot of that content was on my nlcex. Good luck!

Congratulations on your NCLEX success. Thank you also for sharing first hand your thoughts on how Kaplan fits into the NCLEX study plan. I'm not bashing Kaplan, but if you just rely on the strategies you're likely to get into trouble. Kaplan's strategies have to be balanced with a through understanding of nursing content and critical thinking. All of these put together is what makes for NCLEX success. Best wishes for a long and happy nursing career.

Thanks so much for the info. We who haven't taken the NCLEX are dying to hear the "real scoop". I also took Kaplan but have been concentrating on Saunder's for the content. I take the NCLEX on June 28th.

I am surprised to hear that the NCLEX is so much harder. I thought it was the other way around. That makes me nervous because the Kaplan questions are pretty hard!

Thanks again.......zander
