Studying hard but still gettin 60% on practice test

Published

hello everybody, first post here. So i graduated nursing school Aug 2010. ill be taking my NCLEX-PN exam Jan. 4th 2011. I wanted to take it earlier but because of application errors ( not my own, another students error), resulted in a delay in processing. I've been studying for about a month 1/2 and taking practice tests along the way. I'm avg. about 60% on tests...!!!... I graduated with a high B low A percentage in school. im extremely scared i wont pass the nclex because of these practice test results. from what i read its impossible to really study for the NCLEX because they can ask you anything about ANYTHING. i need help... is anyone having or had the same problem? when i graduated i was super confident... not so much now. any advice? im almost at my breaking point. its hard to stay positive when u have so many people"oh youll pass dont worry", but getting results like this.

Don't get wrapped around the axle over predictor test scores. They go both ways. Rely on your own judgement.

What test are you practicing? Some I heard are harder then the nclex.

Hi Merry Christmas!

My advised is FOCUS!!. Read and understand the rationales. Prioritization and drugs. Test strategies is more useful tho knowledge of each nursing area greatly helps. Discipline yourself to not get too distracted with people around. YOU are the one who's going to take the NCLEX not them..So the game is yours to win!! Good luck!! Practice QA's and focus on rationale ..understand it.

If ur using saunders ur score should be ranging from 70+ - 80+ . Kaplan should be 60 + , good luck

@caliotter3- thanks, im trying :\

@sheila0313- im using LearningEXT-PN online course, and saunders iphone app.

@rcristolpn2010- ive been using the kaplan strategy book for prioritizing which is helping me to skim out undesired answers, but Pharm is still giving me a hard time...!!!

and thanx to all who through good luck my way

Just a follow up post... i just want to say thank you to everyone that helped me out here... i finally got my results and i passed!!!!

Can you tell how how useful were the learning ext. questions?

Thanks for posting this, it pust me at ease. I am getting 75-85 on Saunders and about 61-65 on Kapplan. LaCharity I have been doing high 60's, but I am trying to just see the good in this and be happy that I have the opportunity to learn from these tests. I am grateful I have them at my disposal.

Congrats!!!!

learning ext was extremely helpful. but its only good if you have time to really study and use it. its really the only thing i used. i studied for a month straight everyday for about 12 hrs a day. two days of for work (doubles) :/. but if you really study using it ull be fine. the nclex was nothing like the test i took at school. the questions are structured different and learning ext helped me with figuring out what the questions were actually saying. do the review and ALL practice tests at the end. good luck hope this helps.
