I'm taking A & P 1 over again. I took it 8 years ago and earned a C+ in it. Acceptance is based on pre-req GPA's and if I don't get an A, I have a very slim chance of accpetance (like most of you I'm sure). Any tips? I really want to kick butt in this course! :) Thanks everyone!

Well I can't say for sure this will work for me since I'm in A&P right now but I'm doing flash cards and lots of repetition. This just happens to be the way I learn best. I can read something and retain that info for a short time but in order for me to drill it into my brain it has to be by repetition.
For my labs, I'm a very visual person so I've made the investment into some models to have at home with me and for the models I won't have at home I will plan on taking advantage of as many open labs as I can. Again, the repetition is what sticks it into my brain. Wishing you lots of luck! : )

I also used flash cards. Many of my classmates used camcorders and digital cameras to capture the models.

I do flash cards, too. But I do them kind of a weird way. The first time I read through the book I don't take notes, instead I just make a flash card for every key term or key point that I come across. But I don't fill out the back side with the answer. Instead, I wait until after we've had lecture over that chapter. Then I go back and try put the answer on the flash cards from what I remember from lecture and my reading. Of course, I double check everything before I actually put it on the card . I've found that this actually helps me retain the information better than when I take a long time writing detailed notes of each chapter.
I also really like my anatomy coloring book. I'm a very visual person, so this helps me to remember, plus everything is already numbered so it's easy to keep quizzing myself. It's a lot of information, and I've found that it's easiest if I keep learning a little bit everyday and not trying to cram. I also try to go over all of my flashcards for the whole class about once a week. I'm hoping that this will help me when I get to the final! Hope that helps!!

Flashcards for sure! I also have a write board. First, I make all the flash cards before the chapter begins (our teacher hands out study questions as soon as we finish an exam for the previous unit). After each class, I fill out the answers for those flashcards. Then I go through the pile and make 2 piles: an "I know this" pile and an "I need to review" pile. I go through each "I need to review" flash card and write out the concept/definition on my white board. I need to see it in big, bold letters and use different colors (I am a visual learner). Hope this helps!!

Flashcards!!! It's all about memorizing EVERYTHING!!! I took A&P 1 years ago and received a C as well. I retook it and got an A. I took notes in class and from those notes created flashcards that I studied everyday. If you have an iphone, you can download flashcard machine and create notecards from there or you can go online to www.flashcardmachine.com and make flashcards. You can then transfer the sets you create to be synced to the iphone app on your phone. It's pretty cool and handy!

THANK YOU FOR THIS :) This was exactly what I needed, now if I could find a site that incorporated the organs and basic functions in with the labeling.

iPad apps! They really help with flash cards, tutorials, and audio lectures. Someone else mentioned itunesu and that is an amazing resource as well!
