Study plan for 4th time nclex-pn test taker

My plan is to take the nclex-pn mid-November and this is my study plan:

  • Content - Exam Cram 3rd Edition
  • Test Taking Strategies - Kaplan 6th Edition
  • Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment - LaCharity 2nd Edition

And questions questions questions from all books + anything I come across.

  • $50 3-week course on NCSBN (maybe)

Just know that Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment - LaCharity 2nd Edition is geared more for an NCLEX-RN candidate than an NCLEX-PN candidate. Priorities & delegation are two of the biggest differences in RN vs. LPN scope of practice.

Just like the Exam Cram NCLEX-PN will be much more helpful than Exam Cram NCLEX-RN in preparing for the PN exam.

Sounds like a great plan! For you and I have the same list, well not quiet the same. I am still contemplating if I should do NCSBN 3wk course. Have you started doing questions from NCSBN? If so, how do you like it?

JustBeachyNurse is right on point. PDA is geared towards Rn's but it actually works out well for us taking the PN exam. I love that book, I have to admit this book helped me out alot with my last exam. Above Passing on this part of the exam. Now to really concentrate on the core! hehehe

Hi. it's nice that you have come up with such idea. It helped me too. Although my mind is still in a battle whether I should take nclex-rn or nclex-pn. Could someone help explain the difference please?

I'm preparing to retest in late October (1st run was in Aug) this time around instead of studying from different text books I'm going to concentrate on 1! I read up on the NCSBN and I'm leaning towards that since they do make the exam... I feel I flooded my brain with soooo much info EXAM CRAM, KAPLAN, VATI, SAUNDERS.... that when it was time to sit I was full! So I say pick something and stick to that :up: ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.

I plan to take the exam mid-November so if I do decide to take the 3-week NCSBN course, I'll most likely sign up for it last week of October or first week of November. = )

I absolutely agree with you! I studied all sorts of materials too and flooded my brain so much that when it came time to test, at times, my brain would freeze.

3 more chapters to go for the Exam Cram book! :up: I started reading when I made this post 9/24 and it's 10/14 now. I skipped a few days during that timeframe because I would just be too exhausted from work but that just means I better catch up the next day when I'm fully rested!

I should be done with the book + the questions by Sunday 10/21 and signing up for the 3-week NCSBN course on 10/22!

Which means.......just in time to take the exam in mid-November! :yes: .....unless I do the 5-week NCSBN course, then I'll take the exam last week of November. We'll see!

HELLO i TOOK AND PASSED MY TEST ON AUGUST 29, 2012 WITH BEING OUT OF SCHOOL FOR 9YRS. I RELIED FAITHFULLY ON HURST, NCLEX 3000 AND NCSBN QUESTION I DID THESE THINGS FOR 2 MONTHS STR8 I RAN OUT OF TIME HAD 113 QUESTIONS............................JUST CONCENTRATE ON PROCESWS OF ELIMINATION THEN GO FROM THERE U WILL BE FINE GOOD LUCK!!

I started on the on 3-week NCSBN course for LPN on 10/24 and I am loving it so far!
