study guide 101

Question: Are there questions and answers on the 8 cd's for the 8 excelsior exams? Thanks p.s.

Yes, lots of practice tests with rationales.

I originally passed Transitions and Health Safety using Lisa Arends notes, I made C's on both exams and was woefully unprepared for each exam. I then switched to SG101 and have made 2 B's and three A's. SG101 is the best IMHO.

Using Lisa Arends notes will end up costing me close to an extra $1000 in costs when I repeat Transitions and Health Safety to get those C's off my transcripts.

We can retake the exams with C's? I got one with transitions and health safety.I was just happy I passed them. I thought they were hard as heck!

Hmmmm, I am not sure you can retake exams to boost GPA if you passed with a C. Let me see if I can find the policy.

Actually, I think you can repeat. However, all attempts will be on your transcripts but only the most recent exam is used to compute GPA. I think that's it!

You're right, I think. This doesn't say I can't...

]Students may take all undergraduate examinations a total of four times and no more than three times in a given year. All attempts, passes and failures, will apply to the four attempt testing limit. Students may repeat an examination 60 days after the first attempt and 120 days after the second and subsequent attempts.

]Nursing students may take a specific Associate Degree in Nursing theory examination a maximum of four times and no more than three times in a given year. All attempts, passes and failures, will apply to the four attempt testing limit. Failing the same nursing theory examination at the fourth administration will lead to academic dismissal from the program for enrolled students and denial of admission to the nursing program for prospective students.

My goal is the Army CRNA program, so I'm trying to max out my GPA.

I think that applies to courses, though. Exams are different. It was around page 77 in the student handbook.

I edited while you were posting.

If I had a 4.0 GPA but got two C's and lowered my GPA to 3.3, will that hurt me to go into BSN/MSN? My 4.0 is in the actual college classes, not my nursing classes. I was told that it didn't matter what you made in nursing school, as long as you have all A's in like AP I/II, micro, etc.... Am I being lead wrong. Gosh, I hope I make sense I've only had 4 hrs of sleep today.

Usually if you are going for advanced nursing degrees, schools will consider your overall GPA.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Don't bite anybody, it's not that bad. ;)

I've seen 3.2's get into CRNA programs. I haven't researched this subject a lot but it seems like lots of programs for advanced nursing degrees are springing up everywhere, with that comes lowered standards as it get's harder to fill seats.

I would be curious to know how this works out for you; when do you plan on repeating them? I have 2 classes that I would consider repeating to boost my GPA since I am looking at graduate school in the future as well, but I am not sure if it's worth it to me or not. Could we retake them after we are CPNE eligible while waiting on CPNE? Or even after the CPNE itself? You have me curious now.
