So what I did before school semester start was to read ahead of my physiology class.

I've studied every single day and read ahead for my next upcoming physio lectures.

I got a D on my first exam. I was so upset with myself because I'm ALWAYS at the tutoring center studying. I'm literally there from 10am - 6pm and yet, I did not even receive the A I wanted. Everyone knows I'm studying. So I don't know what happened...?

I didn't focused so much on 1 chapter, but I studied the most important ones.

I also have severe test anxiety. I was so worked up that I was nearly in tears as I took the test. I know all the answers when I raise my hand in class. So what am I doing wrong?

She doesnt allow me to record her lectures. I rewrite all her notes and do youtubes videos but still.

Anyone have some advice? I have a micro exam already on Tuesday and I'm afraid it'll be deja vu all over again.

She doesn't allow recording of lectures? W t f. Isn't it like...law to allow students record lectures because every student is a different type of learner. I recommend you contact SDS (Stupid Disability Services) and tell them what's going on. You may need to go see a psychiatrist (which may not be a bad idea) to get something done.

How about just an ear doctor. I'm not sure that would be covered under "Stupid Disability Services", but it is covered under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).

Have you thought about working through your test anxiety before you tackle these courses? I think that is a major contributing factor, along with overstudying, if you are studying as much as you say you are.

Have you seen the exam since it's been graded? Did you know the answers to the questions you missed?

Your comment sounded positive, but 'stupid' & 'psychiatrist' had me confused.

I write things the wrong way sometimes. That's why I don't have a Facebook account.

Like RunBabyRun mentioned, I also have test anxiety & overstudy.

There's way too much info in the chapters to learn everything in a short time.

Read chapter before class. Have your book open during lecture and take notes on what isn't in the book. Write down key words in lecture that refers to the book to study later.

They should say little that doesn't come from the book, so you should be doing more watching & listening than note taking. Take more notes after class.

Use quizlet or studyblue for flash cards, do search on book authors name and chapter number. Then use the two websites in test mode. they'll be several submissions for same chapter on the sites to practice multiple tests.

Failing practice tests are good way to study. Quicker than re-reading the chapters. Only read it once, except to look up stuff you failed on practice tests.

If you receive handouts in class, use that for short answer flash cards and practice tests.

Contradictory to Pearson, You can not Master the chapter in a short time.

I should. She refuses too because she had an incident with a student about that a long time ago. She will let them unless they're a disability student. I was thinking of doing that but I don't know how that goes. I hear students do that on purpose sometimes to have more time on their exam. I've been diagnosed with anxiety and on medication so I'm a good candidate? plus, she expects everyone ot finish 5 minutes before class ends. so let's say class starts at 715-840, you're expected to finish before 8:35. That bothers me so much.

edit: I hope the "Stupid" part wasn't on purpose. That's rude if it was. If accident, it's okay. I've tried texting my friend and my autocorrect called her an *****. Didn't mean too.

Here are my study habits:

Read the chapter before class starts. Then 15-30 min break.

Class lecture blah blah

after class go to tutoring.

Reread chapter and write notes not included in lecture.

break time

use masteringaandp for 1-2 hours then break.

I go to tutoring sessions and literally be the only person answering them correctly. It had to be the anxiety. I have a note from my doctor of the anxiety medications I'm taking.

If you can get written documentation of your anxiety and potentially of a learning disability, the disabilities department should be able to help you to get what you need to be successful. You can get extra time, a quiet environment, and different resources to help you succeed. (the person who accidentally typed "stupid" corrected herself in a later response :))

One thing to think about is the NCLEX, which is a timed exam, and can be anywhere from 75-265 questions, and you won't know how many questions it will be for you until you're taking it. Working on your test taking skills will REALLY help you. Does your school offer any kind of test strategies workshop?

Please provide a reference and context. While I do ask to be able to record lectures, it is my understanding that if the recording is not for public use, sale, resale, or otherwise not for publication, there is no law being broken.

To the OP, I would sit with the professor to review the test to see what you got wrong, what you got right, and then discuss what could have been done differently. Do take your note book and book. Do ask why you are not able to record the lecture? Do share your notes and ask if the professor can make recommendations on what to change in how you take notes.

Have you identified how you learn best? Are you visual? kinetic? auditory? If a mixture, is there a primary and secondary?
