I applied to 3 FNP programs and was denied by 2 but accepted to Anderson University out of South Carolina to start August 2017!

It's not a very well known program because it's fairly new (as of 2015) but it appears to be a solid school with a good reputation.

Moslty online with a mandatory visit each semester. They have the only cadaver lab dedicated to nursing students in the state of South Carolina.

I'd say this is exactly what I was looking for in my FNP program! Tuition is even very reasonable!

Once the word gets out about this program I'm sure it will be a very popular choice.

Anyone out here going to be my classmate for this particular FNP Cohort?

To all, I am applying to Anderson University FNP Fall 2018. I wanted to know if there a certain criteria, I have to follow for the personal statement letter. I looked online and it stated personal statement. Unfortunately, it's winter break and the university is closed until January 2nd. I am working on my statement letter now. Thanks!!!

Spring 2018 marks my semester 2 of 4 in the FNP Program at Anderson University!

What can I say about it so far?

It's a lot of information and at times it is overwhelming! But nobody said NP school was going to be easy.....it's a full load of courses each semester with lots of reading and a lot of assignments each week. This semester we start clinical rotations which should add a little more stress to our lives but it will probably a great learning experience.

The faculty at Anderson has been AMAZING and meeting them at our first intensive last semester helped put us at ease. They really want us to succeed and they are really there to help us! If we are willing to learn and put forth the effort, they will teach us what we need to be great NPs and pass boards. We are already doing board level questions to get us ready for our boards when we finish in December.

I do work full time because I have to and I try to have a social life because I have a family. It's all about time management and setting priorities.

I honestly believe Anderson's NP programs will become very popular and even more competitive once the word gets out that it's a top notch school. I highly recommend it to anyone looking into NP school. It's not a "diploma mill" type school...it's the real deal!

Thank you so much! A lot of information that is very useful. I want to be prepared when I enter the FNP workforce and this school sounds like a fit for me. If you have a chance with your rigorous schedule, do you mind sharing with me what the intensives consist of each semester? Also, I read where I have to write a personal statement letter. One of my references has already been turned in by my nurse manager and another was sent to a MD I work with in the ED. I have to get in contact with one of my professors in nursing school to see if she can send in a reference, but do you think its good to have more than 3 references. Also, what was the average GPA to enter the program (I saw where the minimum was 3.2, I did not know if the median was 3.5 or closer to a 4.0??) Thanks again for the previous post. I wish you al the best and I hope you enjoy your clinicals!

The intensives consist of: skills and patient assessment check offs, lectures and this semester we have to prepare a presentation with a partner. It sounds intimidating, but the faculty is great!

I only had the references requested and no additional.

If I remember correctly, the personal statement letter is simply that.....why you feel a career as an NP is right for you, your accomplishments so far and why you think you will be a good fit at Anderson, etc.....

I don't know stats on the accepted students. I came in with a 3.5 gpa (maybe 3.45.....).

I believe there are about 12-15 of us in the FNP and about the same amount in the PHMHNP program. It's not a big group which is great because the faculty gets to know us at a personal level. I'm in Texas, but I feel like the faculty is very accesible and responsive to any of my questions or needs. I know they all know me and that's what I was looking for in an NP program.

Can you comment on the clinical requirement? Can you do the hours in the same organization you work in but with a different group of doctors?
