Student nurse 2nd time around needs encouragement

Published

Hello Everyone,

Well i have quite a story. Last year i was accepted into a 2 year associates nursing program. I have been trying to get into this school for so long and when it finally happened i wanted to scream amd cry because i was so happy. Now during the paper process i found out i was pregnant and due around the time my semester was ending. I told myself i can do it. I did not realize how hard it would be to travel back and forth and how tired i would be and how little study time i would be getting. I also didnt realize how hard nursing school would be, especially an accelerated program. I noticed my gardes started to fall, mainly due to lack of studying. I told myself over and over that i would be able to pick them up but in the end it fell flat and i got dismissed due to failure of two classes. My heart was absolutely broken into a million pieces and it still affects me. I am going to try it again and hopefully learn from my mistakes. I need aome words of advice and if anyone knows any student nurse coaches or mentors in the NYC area would be very helpful. I would also like to know if anyone knows any info on this school AMA in miami florida.

thank you all!

Nicole

I don't know anything schools in Florida but I can relate to your story. A nursing student in my LPN class didn't pass because she was just too exhausted. She fell asleep in class alot. So don't feel bad. I have bipolar disorder and wasn't diagnosed yet so it caused problems during Med-Surg along with my grandfather dying quickly of lung cancer. I passed the class but not the final so I was kicked out. :cry:The only advice I can give is to write down why you failed before and what you can do now. That will make you feel in control. Review study strategies to boost your confidence. I hope this helps. Good luck::D
