Does anyone know if this is possible? I found out about a good vocational school that has a LPN program I can start fairly soon. But it is full-time and I will have to cut my work hours down to part-time. I'm going to need a little additional money to help with living expenses or I won't be able to do this. I'd love to hear any advice anyone may have-I really want to do this!

Since I had good credit, I was able to obtain a $20,000 Sallie Mae loan without any co-signatures. I haven't worked since resigning last year and am living off my savings until I pass the NCLEX exam.

I went to a vocational school in the Hudson Valley here in NY that had a counselor who help me set up my sallie mae loan. Im still paying that back.. ughhh i wish it could just have it done with. My vocational school also took vouchers that my UNION CSEA provided for schooling up to 500.00 and it helped emmencely.. hope that helps.

I just graduated and i got the training loan you are talking about they only give you what your tuition will be and then 60% times that for expenses. The % rate is not fix, it can go up every month. my credit was not great so i had a co-signer which was my hubby, last i check the % rate on my loan was 15%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I am now in the process of trying to get a loan to pay for that loan and have more of a fix rate, i borrowed 10,000 all together.
i needed it, but i swear if i could have, i would have went a different route.
Good luck

I have no credit. I have been borrowing money from Sally Mae for over a year and a half already. They don't look at your credit, plus you start paying the loan off 6 mths after you graduate.
my hubby had this type of loan to get his Bachelors degree in fine art at a university, but out here in La they give different loans for voc tech etc, its not the same as a university thing, I went to a hospital base LPN school and it was private so that may be why we didn't qualify for grants and why i had to go with that type of loan instead of there traditional 2-3% student loans:)
