Here's a link that outlines the program -- it's administered by PHEAA. Good luck to you. :)

I know for sure that as long as you work as a nurse and if you used a Perkins Loan to fund your schooling, the Perkins loan can be cancelled over a period of 5 years as long as you can provide proof that you are working. The percentage of cancellation depends on if you work full time or not. The amount of cancellation is 100% if you work full time. I think if you work part time, half of the loan is cancelled.
I took the max in Perkins loans and have had my nurse manager fill in the cancellation paperwork each year for the last four years. The entire loan will be forgiven after this year.
The first link speaks directly about the Perkins Loan cancelllation, the second link is more about general loan forgiveness.

I don't know if this will help as you asked about the state of PA and this info regards federal student loans.
It's worth a look for a lot of people because so many don't realize that this is available to them.

Hi! Thanks for all of this info, I really had no idea all of that was available to nurses as well as nursing students. I am a senior nursing student and will graduate in May. I wish I would have known all of this before now!!! It would have helped so much, since I am also a single mom! anyway, thanks for this info, I'm sure many people will find it very useful.
