Stuck-up, know it all students?

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I was reading through the "what you want to say to your fellow nursing students" thread...

Are you surprised at the nastiness from people? In my class we helped each other, sure everyone has their clicks and group of friends but the posts here are weird and generally sound mean.

My class helped each other. There were a few really good students who emailed their notes (with info from the book added in) to ALL students in the class.

I'm almost done, graduating this May but and I'll say some of you "students" sound like the nurses we sometimes meet who aren't that patient with students....

Scary, that some of you people plan to be nurses.

Anyone else thinking the same thing?

No, there are ****** people everywhere. Haven't you met them working at McDonalds? In airports? At the bank? Driving down the road and they cut you off. You name it, those people are there.

I especially like the ****** people on Black Friday.

And of course like the guy who wasn't impressed when I ignored his stupid pick up line at the bar Sat night. He said some stupid remark as I ignored him and walked away. There are jerks everywhere.

Learn to ignore them.

I will say here what I replied to your post there and will add, although I will vent about the rude annoying people in my class (that are not many in comparison to the #of students in my class) but anyway, the venting has no bearing on the type of nurse I will be. In fact it's more likely the rude people I am venting about are going to be the problem. I get excellent reviews and praise in Clinicals from the Nurses, Aides and my Instructor.

We ALWAYS helped each other. There were a few really good students who emailed the teacher's powerpoints (with info from the book & lecture added in) to ALL students in the class. REALLY helped me pass Med-Surg.

I'm glad I didn't go to class with any of y'all you all sound like stuck up-know it all beeyotchs!!

This is just what your classmates are saying behind your back so they can be nice to you in person ;)

Ok seriously though, it's just venting. I have found some WONDERFUL friends in Nursing School. Friends that will be there beyond nursing school I have no doubt. Their are a small few that annoy the crap out of most of us actually. We do realize though, that it's OUR PROBLEM (well some of the things are rude and disruptive to the other class) but mostly it's personal annoyances, so we come here and vent. It's healthy to get things off your chest rather then let it build inside and risk going off on someone.

As far as your name calling, really, it's second grade, but in light of it I will add;

Don't call me names just because I know it all :p

Think you are skating on very thin ice here. "what you want to say to your fellow nursing students" is a thread that student nurses go to to let off steam about the other student's that seem to make nursing school even harder than it already is.

I haven't read it and would not take part because I'm not a student nurse. But nursing is a stessfull, emotional hard profession and nurses need to be able to say actually I am really fed up without being told they are mean or weird!

Don't be too quick to judge and having a valid issue with a fellow student nurse plays no bearing on what sort of nurse someone will be. The vast majority of student nurses posting anywhere on all.nurses are decent hardworking caring nurses and don't deserve this censure

I have to say I disagree.

I've worked my tail off in nursing school and have a great relationship (both working and social) with the majority of my classmates. There are some, however, that drive me up the wall. They are still stuck in a "high school" mentality: The one's that tell me not to hand in my homework (that I spent hours doing) because they didn't do it so they won't get in as much trouble; the one's that talk about how they party all night every weekend, come in on Monday and bomb the exam and think that the tests are "unfair"; The ones that are texting at the nurses station during clinical or not wearing the proper uniform (We had one girl wearing a Victoria's Secret hoodie under her lab coat instead of her scrub top) , then get mad and pissy with the instructor for writing them up... I can go on and on here...

Listen, what I'm getting at is that I try super hard and I do everything I can to help out my classmates that try and make an effort. I'm not a know-it-all and in no way am I saying that I'm better than any of the types of people I mentioned above. I'm just more mature and ready to handle nursing school then they are because I put the time and effort into my work. I will not let someone see my care plans so they can copy them or put up with people that make my clinical group look bad to the hospital staff. I don't see how that will make me one of "those" nurses that are inpatient with students or new grads. I don't think your statement "Scary, that some of you plan to be nurses" is very fair, but that's just my humble opinion.

The thread you are referring to (which I haven't actually commented on) was hilarious to me because I can relate to a lot of the things said. It's meant as a way to vent. Relax.
