Hi everyone! I just started my program this Jan 2016 for MSN -Leadership and Management. I just wanted to vent that I feel somewhat lost, i dont know where to start, there seemed to be an endless amount of reading pointless articles that needed to be read. Although i still have a full month to work on my paper i can already feel panic settling in. Any of you guys have tips on how you tackled this papers? And study tips/techniques. I guess anything would help. Thanks!

Wholeheartedly agree with everything Commuter wrote. I think the only time I read the COS was in the first class, and I quickly realized it isn't necessary in order to complete the tasks, 90% of the time. And when it is necessary to go into the COS, it's usually just to find a link to an article or a webinar.

You will go crazy and spend WAY too much time on the program if you do the COS for each class. Just go right to Taskstream, and if you need clarification on anything in the task, THEN check out the COS.

I'm in my 4th semester in the RN-MSN Leadership track at . I, too, agree with the above statements. For the OP, take a breath, you're going to do awesome. You'll get through this. Worst case, make a phone call with the course mentor. That's helped me. Also, I've had a few papers/projects where I simply submitted them, knowing they weren't complete. The critiques sent back were helpful in saving me from myself even more of my own precious time.

You can do it. Come back here for more help or to vent. I'm always telling myself - it's just 1 task at a time and before you know it, you've get that degree.

I am debating on going with for the masters in education track. I was to start last Aug but they sent a letter stating they could not accept NC students at that time. Received an email last week stating they should know end of March or April if they could accept NC students then. I am also applying at Western Carolina where I obtained my bsn in nursing for the fall semester. Just not sure if I can do WGU program. How different is it from doing the RN-BSN program online? I'm talking about the online program itself. Also, how long does it take to complete WGU educator track?

I completed my MSN in two terms. At first I did the readings etc but quickly learned to jump right to the paper or course assignment and would focus on that. Some of the assignments I had never heard of (like how to write a white paper) and to complete those I googled it. I was able to finish many classes in one week. Don't spend too much time on a lot of readings just figure out what assignment you need to do to complete the class. If you have to take a test then I would focus more on the reading material that was assigned, but like I said, I was still able to complete most classes in one week. At the end I had about a month and a half to complete my thesis. For that project when I submitted my thesis the instructor kept returning it telling me what I needed to do to revise it. I would always "fix" it and resubmit. Then I was finally sent a guide/template (I think its the standard APA template) to use. After seeing that I was formatting it all wrong I used google to find other students thesis so that I could see the final product. I also used them a guide which helped a lot with formatting and what order to organize my data. I was running out of time to complete my thesis or else I was going to have to pay for another term. In the end I was able to get it completed with no time to spare.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Hopefully will re-open enrollment to North Carolina as soon as the approval process is complete. I am ready to start. :)

I started the RN-MSN track on 1/1/16. So far I've completed 4 courses, 3 were gen ed classes that didn't transfer. I haven't read any course content on the performance task classes and watched the course videos for the objective tests. The performance tasks are super annoying and tedious, but I've found that you DO NOT have spend a lot of time on each task. With Biochem, for instance, I picked up some colored pencils and drew really detailed images. My mentor sent me a few examples of other students work and I realized I went wayyyy overboard. Really, as long as you hit each requirement on the rubric, your golden! Don't give up...we got this! :)

Feeling your pain. I just started today for MSN - leadership and my first class is care of the older adult. Feeling overwhelmed with everything! Unsure of where to start!

Jump right to Taskstream and look over the first task. And go from there.

I got some things straightened out with my first course and definitely feeling less overwhelmed... I, however, have not been able to find taskstream. Where is this located?

The link to TaskStream should be located somewhere in your course of study.

It should be in "assessments" if there is a tab for that in your COS.
