Stroke at 6.

My mom was just telling me that when I was six she took me to the emergancy room...she doesn't remember why...and for a while it was thought that I had had a stroke. Is it possible to have a stroke at that age?

My son had multiple strokes about 2 months before his sixth birthday. There are three main types of stroke: hemorrhagic, thrombotic and embolic. His were thrombotic, caused by severe dehydration. He has multiple handicaps as a result. In PICU we see kids with stroke all the time.

I don't know but there are no lasting problems I don't think there are any lasting problems. Though I do kind of "zone out" a lot. I kind of loose conciousness but I remain walking or doing what ever I was doing at the time.

You might have something called Absence seizure (a.k.a. petit mal seizure)

Need to be diagnosed via EEG. There are treatments out there for it that works pretty well - ethosuximide and valproic acid

See a neurologist :)

Some people bring their kids in thinking they're having a stroke, but it's actually Bell's Palsy, a temporary one-sided facial paralysis.

Doesn't sound like the case for you, but just thought I'd share FYI. ;)
