Strighterline w/ Chamberlain

Published

Hi! I got accepted into chamberlain but wanted to wait to finish more general classes before starting. I was very interested in Strighterline. Has anyone took StraighterLine classes? How many classes will Chamberlain accept from Strighterline? Are the classes hard? Did you get them done fairly quick?

for reference, I would be taking A&P1, Chemistry, communication, statistics, andethics.

Hello! That's awesome that you're progressing in your nursing journey, I know you will do great! There is no limit to the prereqs you can transfer, in fact my sister just started last fall with Chamberlain too and they took every single prerequisite from Straighterline except nutrition because it had to be a nutrition for healthcare. So she was able to go right in to nursing classes, woohoo! At the minimum, the program would be 2 years and 4 months. Everything went well for me, I just had to do my own Youtube refresh about A&P stuff in my early nursing classes like patho.

As far as Chamberlain itself goes, I am a senior now and am looking to graduate by the end of this year. Overall, it's been a positive experience and I have learned so much. I would just say that is not for the faint of heart. The classes are accelerated (8 weeks) and there are few breaks. Every week there is a lot of content that you are expected to learn/retain, so be prepared to constantly be studying and preparing for classes/quizzes/tests/simulations/clinicals. You have to make a schedule that works for you and stick to it. Many who couldn't keep up were just not able to prioritize the program to the extent that is needed, in my opinion. The teachers are okay to me, but we teach ourselves a lot of what you need to know. Also, the program is pretty pricey. If you can find somewhere cheaper that will accept classes from chamberlain, I would recommend that.

The clinicals are going fine, I am grateful we haven't missed out on them since the pandemic started. I have really learned a lot.

Hope that helped, let me know if you have any more questions!

Hi there! I’m taking a lot of my classes with straighterline currently aiming for admission next year and Chamberlain is one of choices. Do they have a limit to how many you can transfer from Straighterline? I’m happy to hear you were able to get credit for 10 classes, that’s awesome. That’s about the amount I’m finishing as well. How do you like Chamberlain? The curriculum and the schedule? Clinical options? Thank you in advance and I hope school is going well for you.

Sorry, im not sure if it let me reply to your post before...

Thanks so much for your response! Very informative. I’m familiar with the whole rush this rush that pattern of school. My LVN program is formatted the same way. We also teach ourselves a lot of what we have to know in our program for the most part especially with COVID. I will have to work on my study routine a bit because I know RN school is a whole nother beast! So I will work on that. But currently excelling in my LVN program, so I have hopes I’ll do well in the future.

I’m hoping I can bring my LVN license with me to Chamberlain and bridge? Not sure, waiting to talk with someone hopefully tomorrow. I now have 3 schools that will accept straighterline for me to continue my education to RN. Either way, super relieved to know I’m not wasting my time taking straighterline courses to reach my goal and that I know it’ll lead me to where I am trying to go. Thank you for confirming that!

Did Chamberlain accept your A&P 1 & 2 with labs? Chem, Micro? What’s required to qualify to apply? How long are HESI results good for if I take it prior to applying?

Hello! There are a few LVNs in my cohort, so that's great that you're coming in with experience!  Chamberlain only took my A&P 2 with lab because I did not get over an 80 in the lecture part of the A&P 1 class on Straighterline. You must get a 76 and up in the gen ones and an 80 in science classes (both lab and lecture Straighterline class). They also took my Microbiology. I ended up doing Chem with Chamberlain because I wanted to have a better understanding of the subject ! I have no idea about the HESI part of your question, other than you need a minimum 73. I took the HESI with Chamberlain a few days before I started classes LOL and did fine. Make sure you come in with your transcripts and documents in order and the admission process will be easier.

Let me know if you have any more questions! Thanks!

Does anyone know if Chamberlain accepts Sophia Pathways credits?

Yes my sister did a few classes with Sophia.org and transferred them in along with Straighterline classes

Awesome, Thanks!
I'm seriously considering doing their RN-BSN.
The only annoying thing is, although the core RN-BSN nursing curriculum is 7 courses, 9 courses are required to meet their residency requirement. Which means I'll still have to take 2 elective courses with them.
Which might end up being a history course and a political science course (since their Gen ED core requires those and I have neither).

But I'm considering doing them via Sophia and/or Straighterline, then trying to find other less rote memory type of course to take with Chamberlain...

Yeah I did poli sci with chamberlain and it sucked because it was basically an essay every week sort of thing which sucked especially because I knew I could've blown through it real easy with Straighterline. ?But yes try transferring as much as you can in to save you time and headache LOL. let me know if you have anyone questions, good luck on your nursing journey !!

Hey,

I transferred around 12 classes to Chamberlain from Straighterline , including a few science ones. You must get a 76 and up in the gen ones and an 80 in science classes (both lab and lecture Straighterline class). The Straighterline classes were a breeze, and I could finish a whole class in a day or 2 by just doing the quizzes and then the finals. Please do as much as you can, I regret not doing more classes with them to save time and money at chamberlain. Chamberlain did not let me transfer anything more once I got accepted because it was too class to the class start dates. The science classes will take a few weeks because you have to order lab kits and do the long worksheets and take pics as well.

let me know if you have questions.

Hi there can I ask what major you are in at Chamberlain? is it Associates or Bachelors they provide for nursing?

I have another question - maybe you have experience with this LOL.

I just got my transcript evaluation back.
My Intro to Humanities course (HUM 100) from a regionally accredited institution (received an A) wasn't accepted to meet their humanities requirement. Even though one of their courses that can be taken to fulfill the humanities requirement is HUMN 303 (intro to humanities).

Do you have any clue as to why this wouldn't be accepted? I've never had issues with this previously. Does the 100 vs 303 mean anything that significant?
I need to figure out my options with this I suppose...

Hello, sorry I've been busy with classes, I completely forgot to reply LOL!

I have no idea why they didn't accept your classes, but student services should be able to explain exactly why. I know some of my peers couldn't transfer some of their nutrition classes in because the classes were too focused or they didn't have a healthcare focus. But Sometimes Chamberlain lets you submit the transfer class syllabus for further evaluation. I would definitely challenge your transcript evaluation for sure so you can get every possible credit! If they truly won't accept that class, I would see if it would be possible to knock out a humanities course with Straighterline real quick for submission and transfer if you have time before you start with Chamberlain.

Best of luck!
