Hi all!
I'm seeking both your personal experience and your suggestions for the best way to deal with stress in school! I thought I had this figured out since I am 9 months into my program, but then we started Mental Health in January and I have had some health issues (stomach, viral infection, rash...) and all I can think is that stress is making these things worse. What I have tried so far: meditation, yoga, journaling, seeing a therapist, sleep (whenever I can!), and time for myself. I know this will get better and that it will be worth it when I am a nurse so just looking to see if anyone else is in the same boat. I also take anti-anxiety medications and sleep aides because, you know, nursing school!
Thanks,
Mae

Have you tried exercising on a regular basis? How's your diet? What about mindfulness? Those are some of the things that I find work for me off the top of my head. It sounds like you're doing a lot to alleviate stress as it is :)
I'm certainly trying everything I can! I have not been good about the exercise so that is why I am doing yoga. Diet is great--I eat clean, GF food (as recommended by my GI doc...I have lots of issues!), and I am just exploring mindfulness. Thanks for the response!

For the rash, have you changed anything environmentally such as a new soap, new detergent, etc?
No, I have changed nothing. I got a steroid shot yesterday and some prescription steroid cream and that has helped so much! I just don't want the stress to make it come back later on. Ugh!

Have you ever heard of Olly vitamins? They have a vitamin line called Goodbye Stress. It contains GABA, L-Theanine, and Lemon Balm. They are gummy vitamins and you take two dummies as needed when you are stressed. I tried it a few times daily without realizing its supposed to be used as needed. So it kept me very mellow during the day but focused. If you aren't interested in this, you can try any kind of stress vitamin as long as it's okay to take with your medication. I would seek advice from a doctor before you try this method. Best of Luck!!
This is a great suggestion! Thank you. I will see if our local natural store has it. I've tried rescue remedy before and that didn't work. I've also used lavender oil, baths, etc...
