Just wanted to find out if anyone out there has applied to the new program at WC. I called them and their November, 2008 session is already booked. Next term starts in February, 2009.....so i'm curious to find out how the $$$ is going to affect them if at all. Was it easy to get financial aid and loans, especially how the economy is?? :typing

Hello to all! Any ideas how much is ADN to MSN at Western University?????

I recently graduated from WCU with ADN and planning to go to Western U for my ADN-MSN.

Wait you graduated from West Coast University with an associates!? I thought it was a BSN from West Coast?

I just took my HESI at WCU Anaheim today and passed. What worries me is how quickly they moved me in to talk to someone and enroll me. The woman was insanely rude and spent most of my time with her answering private emails and never excused herself or anything. Most of the questions that I asked were answered with "I dont know". Im an older student so WCU seems to be my only option. I've applied to the Cal States and Mount St. Marys, but with a 3.76, I did not get into any of them. Is anyone currently enrolled in the BSN program at WCU? What do you think of it? Do local hospitals recognize a degree from there? Im curious to see if your license matters or if your license and degree matter when getting a job. I would hate to get my license and be up for a job with someone from a Cal State, for them to chose the Cal state person.

Hey Irishgal...Did you have to take any pre exams like the HESI for Mt St Marys school. or the cal states?

I had to take the TEAS for Mount St Marys. I got into the final round and they gave me only a few days notice to take it. I had no idea there would be so much environmental science on it. It was all this stuff about planets and rocks etc from 5th grade that I completely dont remember. They told me the final decision would be made on spring grades, but I got a 4.0 and still didnt get in. Some people I know got into Cal States and had to take the TEAS upon their enrollment. I think they are changing it though where your TEAS grade will be part of you application. Its very frustrating and heart breaking when people with lower grades than you get into school and you dont. The schools kept telling me grades grades grades, but I know a few people with all Bs and Cs who got in above others with all As.

Yay, grades help, but so does the essay/interview, and if they got super high scores on the TEAS. I find it quite stupid that they base your "smart brains" off a TEAS exam, yet you get an A in mirco chem and A&P. Ive taken the TEAS twice and still cant get a grip on it. I finally purchased the TEAS book V (5th) ed. Its a lot harder, so I believe if I study that, then I will take the TEAS one more time to see if I can pass it.

At least you passed the TEAS. Why dont you just go to West Coast then, since you cant get into the other schools. Im takin some Gen Ed classes, so that will bring my tutuion down a lot. Right now Im down to 100,00. Which is way cheaper the marys, cbu, and any other private school. However it is more expensive then the Cal states, but at least Ill get more ONE ON ONE training and help with the professors.

I too am wait to hear from a West Coast Univ student. I want to know how thier experience at the school is. I think if I take these stupid little classes, and get them out of the way, it should bring my tution down to about 90,000. Thats really good considering it pays for books and uniforms.

Lets keep in touch. I liked WCU staff. I wouldnt put the staff and the teachers together. The teachers I hear are helpful, if you just ASK. Dont put the staff and the teachers in the same category.

The teachers are what is most important. The staff and lectures and fin aid that helps you out has to deal with so many people that "think" they want to be nurses, and they honestly probably just waste thier time. I understand how they may get frustrated and may want to rush those who really want to go there along.

lets just see if anyone writes anything about west coast.....:confused::confused:

Im older and did not get into other programs so this is my only option and I start this November in Anaheim.

You should be scared because this school will tell you anything to get you in and once you are committed you start to see the truth. Be strong and don't give up, there are other programs out there that are better than this program, well organized and a whole lot cheaper.

WCU is my last option as I did not get into any schools I applied to even though I had great grades. Im at the point where my pre-reqs are almost up and Im almost 30 and lost my job so it seems to be WCU or give up. I cant redo my pre-reqs all over. I hope that not everyone has had a terrible experience at the school

whoa...someones comment got deleated. dang, Im glad I read that before hand that is for sure. Yay, Im going to look into another field, get my Bach. then Ill go get my masters or get a second degree at another college.

I saw it was deleted too. Hopefully I have a different experience!! Wish me luck because Im really nervous.

You should look into , Online University | Online Degree | Accredited Bachelor's and Master's Degrees .There are five clinical sites in SoCal where they place students for clinicals. The cost is only $4250 for six months, reasonable compared to the other. They are starting another cohort this month, haven't seen when the next is due to start, but it should not be long. I think you could do a lot better with this particular program. Just a heads up.
