Story of Lunacy

My director of nursing at an assisted living facility told me to argue with the psychiatrist over over a drug change. We had a lady who clearly had sundown syndrome. She was on Paxil. He told me that he wanted to change it it Zoloft. I did not argue with the man and he put her on Zoloft. I was not reprimanded for his decision. The Director of Nursing told my friend that she did not have to have her blood drawn when she stuck herself with a needle after giving an injection. What gives???

Is there any logic in this post???

That lady left or was fired. There was a high turnover for that position. One of DON's was escorted out of the building.

I can't make out exactly what the OP is trying to say or ask

Im going to guess that the bit about the DON telling you to argue with the doctor over a med change and the bit about a nurse not getting her blood drawn after a contaminated needle stick are two entirely different events. The way you typed/wrote your post is a little confusing. Paragraphs would have made it clearer.

I don't know what to say about the DON telling you to argue with the doctor over the medication. I've never heard of such a thing. If she had a problem with the order she should have talked to him herself.

And anyone who pokes themself with a contaminated needle should get checked. I think this goes beyond company policy and is a law.
