Hi, those that got in PMHNP program 2022 what was your GPA and experience. What are they looking for in applicants. I applied for the Summer 2023 program and I'm anxious. I'm wondering if I'm good enough applicant or not? ?

Hi @-Taffy-
if they call you for interview, you’ve reach the second round and it proves you have the potential. All you need is to Give your best during the interview. It’ll break or make you. I wasn’t prepared for the interview and was not able to leave a good impression. I didn’t prepare well plus I was nervous rack. Give your best. I didn’t get in but I’ve no regrets, doesn’t mean I was a less candidate compared to others. It was just not my day. I had applied to another college and got in and am doing good. Good luck to you.. They will ask basic questions like what is role of NP, why you want to be NP, tell about your self etc. I know some people on this group are very secretive about what they ask n the process etc which I think makes no sense. If you have what it takes you will reach where u deserve to be with hard work and your wits. Good luck

Thank you Jason123 for your response. I'm gonna apply to Hunter College and applied Stony Brook. The reason why I applied these schools because of they are cost effective, but I know they are competitive.  If you don't mind me asking what other schools in new york city offer phmnp programs that are cost effective.

Interms of cost, as far as I know nothing beats CUNY schools if you are a New York resident and they are also good schools with good reputation unlike some for profit online NP mills. If I’m not wrong Hunter and SB are very cost effective, paying off tuition is doable with your regular nursing job, hence more competition. I know there is Pace university in the city but I’ve limited information regarding the fee and if they help find clinical placement. New Jersey has some schools too, hybrid format. You should check them out too if you want more options. Good luck.

Thank you jason123 for your honest response. I still haven't heard back for an interview date.

Anyone who applied to Stonybrook PMHNP 2023 program got an interview yet? If you did, can you please let me know. I just want to know where I stand. Also, if you don't mind sharing your academic grades and experience. I have cumulative GPA of a 4.0 and have one year and 1/2 experience as a psych nurse. I have three recommendation letters, two from ADNs and a previous academic professor. I think my essay is OK, but I feel my writing isn't my strong point.

Hey Taffy,

I just received an interview and I'm so nervous. I heard that it can be very intimidating and that people often leave feeling underqualified. Have you heard back yet?

Hi Mcnurse, I just checked my email and I haven’t had a response yet ?. I did apply in early in November, close to the application deadline. When did you apply?   It’s seems that you have a lot more experience than I do.

I also applied close to the application deadline. They were having trouble viewing my transcripts which I did have to resend them, and that's when I found out about the interview. Some of the other feeds say they interview into January. Do you know of anyone else who applied? I'd love to find out what they might be asking.

Hi, mcnurse38 sorry but I don’t know anyone else that applied to the stony brook phmnp program 2023. I live in the city and so do most of my coworkers as well. Some said they will apply to the Hunter program. I’m gonna do the same as well.

Btw how did you know you got an interview through your email or stonybrook application portal??

It was in an email.

I see, I still haven't received an email. I guess I will have to wait and see. I wonder when is the cut off for interviews? I do wonder how many applicants applied as well too?

@mcnurse38When is your interview?

I just interviewed for the 2023 PMHNP. It was stressful we had so many candidates at one time. I thought every candidate was very strong in their responses.  Wishing everyone good luck.
