I did not have any patient experience either, neither did most of my classmates. As for applying, if you have strong recommendation letters, an astonishing essay, i would give it a shot!

I was wondering if they keep your application info on SOLAR for future application, let's say if I don't get in and want to apply again down the line or apply to the accelerated?
Thank you!

Do we need to have a lot of volunteering experience, community work, etc?
Hey! Is it okay to apply if I have just one more class (Nutrition) to take in the Spring?
Yes you can still apply while taking classes but they must be completed before beginning the program. Everybyear that you apply, you must start a new application from scratch.
I, personally had very little volunteer experience; I was an active member in Phi Theta Kappa at SCCC. I had also received various awards and offers for internships for pre-nursing students to experience nursing abroad.PUT EVERYTHING INTO YOUR APPLICATION, SELL YOURSELF TO THEM!!!
Thanks s much ! You are very helpful ! What classes count as Humanities and Fine Art?

Hey all,
I'm also applying for basic fall 2015. Was wondering, did anyone get called in for interviews yet? Are interviews mandatory for admission or is it random? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
I took music and ethics. And, yes interviews along with a basic math and writing test are mandatory if you get called for one.

I'm finishing up my application now after having just gone to an info session on Thursday. I'm not feeling hugely optimistic about it- earned some lousy grade because I dropped a LOT of classes as a naive youngster. Stopped going to school and now I'm back completing my prerequisites and kicking some booty at it.
Apparently the average incoming cumulative GPA is 3.4 and the science GPA was a 3.6-3.7!

@sarolarn2B If nursing is your passion, then apply. Don't worry about other cumulative GPAs. Seems like you are doing good with pre reqs so it's worth a shot, right?
Of course! I'm finishing up my statement and waiting on another recommendation before I go ahead and submit it. Worst they can tell me is no, but SBU is my goal :)
