Hey guys! So I just applied to the SBU Basic (2 year) program a couple of days ago. I thought it would be nice to start a forum. Feel free to ask any questions! And good luck to all who are applying!!!
Hi,I'm actually interested in applying to Stony Brook's nursing program to get into the winter/spring session. What are the pre reqs required for this program?
Best,
MsCush
Just google stony brook nursing and it will come out.
I am not sure but they may only have every fall starting on nursing ..
I have this problem with giving advice when it comes to nursing school, I try my best not to, however I see some talk about some of you planning to go to Molloy and NYIT. Don't go to Molloy or NYIT... Molloy and NYIT doesn't even rank on any reputable college ranking system. If your going to spend that kind of $$$, go to NYU. I personally know several people who went to NYIT and None have anything good to say about the school. Molloy's RN program will take at least 3 years. Try going to a community college nursing school. In the long run you will save a boat load of $$$$. And when your done with the ASN and after you get your BSN go spend the big $$$ on your Masters or DNP. Altogether, you should just try and stay away from the private schools.

I applied to nyu but haven't heard good things about it either. I'm graduating from a community college next month, really had no interest in their program. Nyit was the first to give me a decision. Is it hard to find a job after or is the program/campus just no good? Again thanks for letting us know!

I have the same problem as you,, Molloy accept me for fall 13 but I have not send $200 yet because I am not sure of the e program .. Some people say it is not flexible at all when it come to get classes and I have to work while attending school .. I will be getting my associate next month as well..

Just to let you know, stony brook is not flexible either. They give you your schedule! You don't pick. I know this info first hand from the nursing students who are doing clinicals in my unit.

I bet we are all going to be working and trying to go to school. The only way to get through it is to think for the long run. We won't be in school forever! It's tough not knowing much about the schools and just applying, hoping for the best. :/
I just got a call before from the coordinator of the nursing program...she talked with me for like a half hour about my credits and transcript and what classes i would take to ensure my spot and she was trying to make it so that I don't have to take a bunch of classes over the summer, and trying to rework my credits into different elective and pre-req areas...looks like a good sign! I know she is a very busy woman and wouldn't take a half hour out of her time to talk to me about my credits and transcript and work with me if they weren't going to accept me! =) she also was like "I'll talk to you soon!" which also seems like a good sign, and mentioned what my acceptance letter would look like...yay!!!!!!!
