Published

Hey guys! So I just applied to the SBU Basic (2 year) program a couple of days ago. I thought it would be nice to start a forum. Feel free to ask any questions! And good luck to all who are applying!!!

Yes. If I get in I will start to look room or maybe dorm if its not cost a lot.

No you don't need your license to apply, but must have it in 6 months after program starts or you have to take off the semester till you get it.

I have a BS in biology. I would be able to apply to the RN to MSN with that if I get my ADN?

Some school allow it yes. Like nyu pace or some other school also if you have 2yr degree RN and BS on any other field than you can apply master directly

Yes you can apply to RN to MSN with an ADN and a BS, as long as you have all the pre req courses. I'm not positive but I think SB might require work experience too, but that's only for the RN to MSN not RN to BSN (this requires work experience but you can get that while in the program, not required for application and program start).

Yea I think its going to be hard getting into any Msn program without any work experience.

I currently work at stony brook as a nurses assistant on a heavy medical telemetry unit and my supervisor says she would hire me in a heart beat with my associates RN. It's considered career advancement....? I've been accepted into an associates program for fall 2013. Just waiting to hear from SBU like everyone else. Good to know that going into an MSN program is an option!

I got denied for Stony Brooks's nursing program. But I got accepted to SUNY Farmingdale for their nursing program. I have the interview for it tomorrow, any tips?

You found out from the 2-year traditional program?!
