Stony Brook Basic BSN Class of 2018

Published

Hey Everyone,

Now that the deadline for the class of 2018 Basic BSN program at Stony Brook University is coming up, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread to and for all applicants. I hope there isn't already a thread made already because I searched thoroughly but could not find one. If you have any questions or just want to talk feel free to comment. Best of luck to all of you on your applications!

Im so glad this thread exists! I just received an email for an interview yesterday and yeah I was surprised bc the girls in pre-nursing were saying to expect an email in late Feb.

Im so nervous because I have no idea what to expect and on top of that my interview skills are not so good lol

Congrats! Same here I was excited yet confused at the same time but then again I shouldn't be complaining lmao. Yes I'm extremely nervous as well but we'll definitely get through it! Are you transferring from a 2 or 4-year to SBU swimmingseaturtle?

Same to you! Im currently attending a 4 year university. How about you?

I'm taking my pre-reqs at a 2 year college as of right now. Do you mind me asking what's your GPA?

I don't mind lol but I apologize because I'm being careful (and slightly paranoid) about how much info I'm putting on here. My gpa is somewhere within a 3.5 and a 4.0 range. That is all of my undergrad combined and as for my sciences alone I never calculated but I think it would be a 3.5-3.6.

I am curious to know if you have similar stats

Oh it's alright no pressure at all! Same here my GPA is between a 3.5 and a 4.0 range for overall and as for sciences is probably the same range as yours. Did you complete all of your pre reqs or it's still in progress?

I just finished my last pre reqs this semester. Im wondering how quickly we will be notified about our admissions decision after the interview. April/May seems like such a long wait ):

Oh okay that's good! I know, I couldn't bear to wait that long I'll be so impatient checking my email everyday lmao. Hopefully with the interviews being earlier than usual they can give us a decision earlier? I'm heavily preparing for this interview because not only is it a group interview but it includes a writing sample and a math test so there's that to look forward to!

Yeah I agree. Im wondering if the SON will send out all acceptances/rejections at the same time or if they do it on a rolling basis as they progress through the interviews. As for preparing for the exams I'm going to do some studying online as well as brush up on my grammar bc I've been relying on autocorrect for a while now (:

As for the questions they will ask, I'm just going to be honest. I think regardless of how much we try to prepare, they are most likely going to ask questions we wouldn't have even thought of. So its probably better to just know ourselves and be as honest as we can.
