Stony Brook Accelerated Nursing Class of 2017

Published

My attempt at helping those who wish to apply to the Stony Brook Accelerated (1 year) Nursing Program.

Maybe they dropped you? Lol Jk, I'm sure the site is probably just glitching or something. I wouldn't worry about it. BTW, don't check every hour, you have a life go and enjoy yourself lol.

Before last night I haven't checked since the beginning of November. I never had those options, only the options to view applicant info, change password, quick links and the financial aid tab but I think that's the norm for everyone. On old threads I've seen that those that were accepted had the "New student preferences" tab or an option to pay their deposit, and this would update in solar before they received their official acceptance letter/email.

LOL my heart just sank. You're very calming and reassuring. Thank you for the speedy response!

Yes, Ive read that also. From reading the past threads, Ive noticed they usually send out notifications of Tuesdays and Fridays. Two years ago acceptance letters were sent out on December 4th. You guys are right, I should definitely stop worrying.

Just wondering what other schools you guys applied to? Im also applying to SUNY downstate as well as MSV.

So far SUNY Brockport and Binghamton but I doubt my Bing app will be considered because I completely forgot about supplemental documents (I'll be uploading them anyway you never know) :(((( but I'm still going to apply to SBs 2yr program if it doesn't happen with the accelerated. I'm not letting it go so easy lol. NJCU is also on my list as well as some private schools but I'll wait to see what happens before applying.

Random question, does anyone know if they give preference to people who graduated a while ago or people who are about to graduate. I feel like there is such a large gap between people who have graduated a while ago and have been able to gain work experience while those who are about to graduate haven't.

In past years, people have said that those about to graduate are equally embraced. Ive been a busy little bee during school so Ive never thought about that, but its an excellent question. If you've had work experience then great, if not then you have the opportunity to show them how fantastic you are during the interview.

I doubt it, that really wouldn't be fair. They place so much emphasis on the actual applicant, who they are and what they bring to the table, not so much years of work experience. I do remember though that during my first info session, it was mentioned that the average age of the accelerated student is in the 30s. Don't rely on that information though, anything could happen!

I'm excited for the moment when people start heading back though, you guys are all awesome!! Everything happens for a reason and I know we'll be great wherever we end up!
