It's almost september, which means people are starting to get their applications for nursing together real soon. I'm currently in the 1-yr nursing program here at Stony Brook. A previous alum started the 2014 thread for us, so I figured I do the same. Feel free to ask questions or message me with them. Good luck to everyone applying! :)
Hi womenshealth, Congrats on your interview when did they call you to schedule the interview? I haven't gotten one yet was wondering if they are still calling people... As far as the masters programs I am unsure about the process for them but I know they have information sessions for all of the programs where you can find out information and ask questions
Hey! I got called on Monday and applied on the due date so they are definitely still calling people!
Hello everyone!! This is my first time commenting, but I have been lurking lol. I applied on October 17th and I received a call today for an interview! If you haven't gotten a call yet don't give up hope. Good luck to you all.
For those of you who have already interviewed, how would you suggest I prepare for the math quiz?
Just a heads up - I have heard that if you are offered an interview this (obviously) does not guarantee you an offer of admission, but if you are not offered an interview this does not necessarily mean that have you been/will be rejected. So...you still have a chance to get in if you don't get called to interview.
Tbellx12,
Where did you hear this? I know it is out of my control, but I at the least, meet the minimum requirements of the program and I'm getting very nervous that I haven't been called for an interview. I applied on September 18th and still haven't heard anything. I thought I was competitive enough to be considered for an interview, so I am hoping that what you have heard has some value to it. I just didn't know if you heard this through a staff member or current student that may have inside information on the whole admission process.
I am very thankful for this forum as it is the only thing calming my nerves right now. I am holding out on attending other schools I have been accepted to because Stonybrook by far is my top choice!
I am also wondering if anybody applied for the program while finishing their undergrad.?
I'm currently finish up my undergrad and right now I don't have all of the pre-reqs complete and I'm taking some in the spring. I submitted my application on Oct 7, and just got called for the interview today.
Hi everyone I'm a currently a student at the university at buffalo and just applied to the accelerated program. I got called today for an interview in about a week and said it's not possible for me to leave school so suddenly so they offered to do a skype interview. She didn't mention anything about a math or writing test and I'm curious if anyone knows how it will work for me since the interviews are in groups.
Thanks

Hey Ashley! I spoke with an applicant yesterday who said they had a skyper in their group. She said they set the computer up in the last chair just like they would have if you were there so you'll still do the interview with the group! Good luck!!

JA1001,
I know exactly how you feel.. Although I am really hoping this is true, it is also hard to believe that they would interview people and then pick someone that they didn't even call for an interview. I know someone else also mentioned this in the post was Spiritekidd... so maybe they are hearing this from staff? I would like to think this is true and I am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on here! Good Luck!
Yup, my group had a Skype participant too. When we all shuffled out of the room to do our math/writing tests, the faculty members were telling her that someone from IT would be back in the room shortly to set her up with the tests. No idea how it works beyond that point. :)
Wow okay cause I was worried about how I'm going to take the test too, thank you so much!
I think that in terms of the interview, it is best not to share details about the exam or the questions that are asked so that nobody walks in with an unfair advantage. Upon scheduling of an interview, you will receive an e-mail with all of the basic information as to what is on the test and what to bring etc. I will tell you that I am not great at math and I had no problems with the test. The only thing that was difficult was the time constraint.
