lorain county community college offers STNA training...it's $461.50 + $40 lab fee (so, $501.50 - it's 4 credits) and it's 3 weeks long from 8:30am - 4:30pm (full time) *OR* evening classes that is 10 weeks long (5:30pm - 10:45pm). the evening classes start 5/22 - 7/19 and the day classes start on 7/2 - 7/19 (lorain campus) or 7/9 - 7/26 (elyria campus, NOT LCCC's main campus). upon completion of the course you can take the state exam which is $96. if you have any other questions regarding LCCC's STNA program i recommend calling them at 1-800-995-5222 ext. 4500.

Sadly, you may not find it for free. Many facilities have stopped that practice because it isn't profitable for them. People train on their dime and then go elsewhere, or they can't fill classes. Keep searching though, because some facilities do offer free training if you sign a contract to work for them for X amount of time. They're few and far between.

I would contact this address as listed on the first page:

Dept of Hlth NA Registry

PO Box 118

Columbus OH 43266

(800) 582-5908-Ohio only

(614) 752-8285

Maybe run a search and get their email address. That's what I did and within a week they mailed me a packet with TONS of places to contact.

I as well am looking for STNA training in the Delaware county area and have found one place (the Delaware JVS) but am still looking around. Or has anyone heard about this program? Just wanting the scoop.

Specializes in home health.

Does any one know if anyone has ever studied at home on their own and taken and passed the STNA. I have a lot of experience in the home health care field, so I thought maybe I could do this. I found a 900 page text book that is used in CNA classes which I am going to study, plus I have an Aunt who has been a nurse for over 30 years who has agreed to help me learn to take vital signs, change an occupied bed ect. She has a handicapped daughter who needs assistance anyways and she said we could practice on her.

it might be a bit of a drive for you but there is a place in akron that is offering the classes. I have had a hard time finding classes too! its like they don't exist! the place in akron is called Stow-Glen. its actually in Cuyahoga Falls.

it would be a bit of a drive, but bath manor in fairlawn offers the classes once a month. they are two weeks long and the teachers are very thorough! you can also take the state test there. the red cross in cleveland does offer nurse aid training, but the information i found said it was very expensive and i believe its 8 weeks long. the fairlawn classes only cost me 500. if you register early enough its only 450. hope this helps and good luck!!
