Stinky Nurse

Published

okay we have this new rn in our facility. and he has a serious bo. you can even smell his stench from a distance. i feel bad about him because everyone knows he smells and talks about him. i think he just need to use a deodorant but it may be against his religion/culture, i'm not sure. he said he is from europe. so everyone is telling the nurse manager to talk to him because as a healthcare provider, he should have a good personal hygiene. so how can you advice him without offending him? is everyone just being mean, including me?

p.s. it is really bad because all his coworkers are complaining and even the patients. when i was talking to him the other day, i had to hold my breath and ran away asap.

just an update guys... so our nm talked to the new nurse and we had been odor free from him for 2 weeks now. i guess he just needed to use deodorant. thank you all for the replies. i hope i don't encounter this sitution again because i don't want to hold my breath again for a situation like that.

As politely as possible I think you should tell him. We had a fellow student in my Biology class that had BO and my best friend told him.

She said "You know, you are a really nice and smart person. You should try to take better care of yourself, it doesn't give a good first impression ect..."

He actually approached her on campus the next semester and thanked her. He started taking better care of his hygiene and got a job and a girlfriend!

I would just tell him directly, discreetly and politely. If he takes offense to it, then he obviously does not care about how he comes across to other people. He may have a medical condition. When I was in AJROTC my Major had serious BO, we asked him one day what it was all about (he wasn't the type to makes us do push-ups) and he said that he was allergic to some common ingredient in deodorant.

i find it fascinating that we cannot smell our own body odors.

my husband is very clean, showers daily.

but when he sweats, he gets bo.

when i tell him this, he sniffs his underarm and insists, "no....here, smell".

and like an idiot, i do.

every.single.time.

but i digress.

it and he smells.

but he doesn't smell it.

why?

.... I think he knows darn well that he has BO.... :trout:Stop falling for it. LOL... (Ah... to be in love... :) )

When I smell, I know it.

hahahahahaha.

i was just going to type, "you must be a boy" and then i saw you stated your gender.

because....i've told my boys, since the day they were born, that girls only smelled like flowers.

that solves our mystery as to why i ALWAYS smell like a spring morning, and hubby does not.

*snort*

lol... Not all flowers smell good though.

im not the shy unassuming quiet type.

someone like this i would have told him or her right off the bat. straight to his face.

just not standing close to him, or in a closed office though. maybe with a face mask and swipe of mentholatum under my nose
