Still wanna be a nurse at 40++

honestly speaking, I have a high respect on older nurses... I mean nurses that have 1 or more years in this profession no matter what their age is.

You see, if you still have that guts to do what you really want in life, do it!!!! It's better to try and failed than never to have tried at all!

hi, i am 30 when i entered nursing school. I have a few classmates in their 40's and they did well. Some did even better than the younger ones because they are more serious and dedicated with their studies.

At the beginning it was tough but as time goes by, it became easier. They are RN's now.

Nursing is not an easy profession but it is very rewarding.

Just go for it!

Mind If i ask opinions or experiences , is it still possible to pursue nursing course at 43 ??? Need a very strong and encouring words of advice , PLEASE.....

where do you plan to study? i'm also considering the idea of pursuing a BSN degree next school year. wanna be nurse din ako but 35++. hehehe...

hi there! i'm 42 and a bsn junior. so, i'd be graduating at 43. in between my store, two kids (ages 10 and 14), and nursing school, i still was able to get an average of 1.75 for this semester (that's between 90-94 GPA). age doesn't stop you from doing anything, i know of some graduates from my school who is over 50 and the last time i've heard she's in u.k. good luck! you can make it! just set your heart and mind to it!

average age for nurses in the US is 40+. you can have some research on that. US is not like the Phil where AGE does matter. I encourage you to continue your plan.

That's encouraging to hear since I'm finishing up my pre-reqs and plan to enter nursing school this Fall (if I am accepted). Only class right now I am struggling with is Chem 101. How much chemistry does a nurse need. Do you have to be really strong in Chem?

I also had classmates as old as my mum (mid 50's) and you'll be surprised how good they were at nursing school.. well as long as you have a strong determination to pursue a nursing career.. I am 100% that you can make it! :)

there's nothing wrong po, i have a classmate we called her "ate" she enrolled for BSN as a self fulfillment and reward for herself after graduating this march she'll go back to the states as a professional (thats her exact words) its kinda inspiring d ba?

Go on! here in the Phils its quite a big deal..there were hospitals here saying that an age like that are of the least priority...but if ur market is global, go on and keep moving forward...follow ur heart...nursing is a vocation...goodluck to you...

Noticed that you posted last April 2007. So did you pursue nursing yet? I say go for it. I have a friend (former classmate in sophomore nursing) who's 43 -- a chemical engineer. She's working while studying. Her husband is in Singapore, with 3 kids, and a really dedicated mom. She managed to do all those things all at the same time! And I have high respects for her.
