Still can't find a first job

Nurses Job Hunt

I work for a sister company of a large corporation and that corporation owns a local hospital. So when I went to nursing I had the idea of them giving me $3500 towards school tuition but I had to stay with the company for 1 year after I graduated. I figured I would be able to find a nursing job at the hospital so would be ok. Well I passed the boards in October and have been looking for a a job with them ever since and have applied over 25 times and only had 3 interviews. The last interview I had a month ago the lady told me that I didnt have experience and was going to hire someone with 10 years experience. Now I really don't want to apply to the company anymore and wait til August to apply elsewhere. do you think anyone will hire me being out of school a year and no nursing experience besides school? so frustrated

I'm having the same issue. Not enough experience. Are we supposed to make our own patients? Lol

I have only had two interviews and didn't get the job,but that was before I got my license. I re-applied to all of them after I got my license but got turned down for one position and haven't heard anything from the others. There are plenty of positions in my area but they all want someone with one year of experience, well how do we get that experience if nobody will give us a chance. That's why I decided to try to find a part time job while I am waiting because getting a nursing job may take a while.

I'm confused, have they already given you the tuition reimbursement? Or is that dependent on getting a job there? I know my hospital system reimburses you as you go through school, which is why it's guaranteed you will be hired in some capacity because we sign a contract for a certain amount of time.

HippyDippy---

That's what my health care system does too, but there's a catch. Even though you sign a contract to work for them for two years, they don't care what capacity you work in. I signed a two year contact to go to nursing school and work for the company after graduation. Well I graduated and informed HR. HR was happy to let me know that they only want nurses with experience and I can serve my two years in my underpaid, non RN job.

Wow...even though it was stated in your contract that you might have to work in an non-RN job, that sounds like a load of bulls****. They knew they were giving the impression that the people they gave scholarships to would be working as a nurse after school! They shouldn't give out more scholarships than positions they'll have open. I know that nobody can predict the future, but I get the feeling that they probably know exactly what they're doing.

And look over the contract. If you leave before the contract is up, there is a chance you will need to pay back every single dime of the scholarship since it's not really a scholarship but a contract.

They already gave me the reimbursement. I had to stay there a year or I would have had to pay it back. I still haven't found a job there but ended up finally finding a job with another company and starting tomorrow! I guess they didn't want me lol! oh well.

Thank God you got a job somewhere else.

There is hope!
