Hey yall! I am new to this forum and I'm about to start Nursing School in the Fall. Can anyone tell me what kind of stethoscope I should get? Like is there a certain kind that is better than the rest? Someone please fill me! Thanks!

The general consensus that I got when I asked the question was to buy a Littman. I took their advice and got a Littman Master Classic. It has worked wonders. I bought mine from http://www.allheart.com.

I've got a Littmann Cardiac III, and a Walmart $20 back-up. Both work well, but the Littmann has lifetime guarantee on parts.
Don't feel like you have to get the Lexus Littmann, to get good function.
Also, regardless of which you decide on, look around. There is huge variation in price depending on where you buy.

When I first bought a stethoscope for nursing school I bought a $20 one and couldn't hear a whole lot of things. I bought a Littman Cardiac III and was amazed at the things I could finally hear. I definately recommend any Littman stethoscope. There are many different types and brands out there. Just remember..... You get what you pay for!

I have a Littman classic II and I really like it! I have had it for over 4 years now and it still looks and works like the day I got it!! Any of the littmans are good.

I agree with the OP. Littmann is the best in my opinion. I have had others that either tore up or didnt work well. My littmann cardiology II is lightweight so it doesnt annoy me to wear it on my neck all night and I dont spend as much time as I use to trying to hear BPs and lung fields. Good Luck!

I have a Littmann Cardio III and wouldn't trade it for anything else. I would be lost without it. It's what I learned with and it's what I know.
