STEPS to take to work in the U.S.A.

hi, everyone...im Mark, a new member of this online community although been here many times before to look at articles that may be of help....

i'm a new graduate from a nursing school here in the Philippines, and had just recently took the board exams and passed. i'm currently in the process of acquiring my license from our licensing authority...and after which im gonna take the ielts this august....

here are my questions:

1. if im going to work in the u.s.a. what are the things needed to allow me to work there?

2. im planning to work in new york....do i have to take cgfns exams? or take nclex directly in hongkong. after which, if i pass what would be my next step?

Is it to apply for the visa screen certificate?

3. from my research in the net, here's what ive gathered to be the steps to take in having to work there:

a. must be a licensed nurse in own country

b. must take nclex, and ielts (or similar) in N.Y.

c. if both passed, must apply for visa screen cert. by the cgfns org.

Are these all correct? If so, please correct my info.

And do suggest the correct steps to take...

after getting my Visascreen , i found a employer in Massachusette, i am planing to take NClEX in Hongkong before arriving to US. Does Suzanne know if i need to apply for CES in order to be get License in Mass?

acctually i have already applied for CES before i find the employer and it got aprroved recently, i intend to get a License in Maryland first and then endorse to Mass, do you think it is possible? :)

If you have the CES then you are set for most states, however, be aware that Massachusetts will require you to have the TSE before they will issue you a license. They do not accept the IELTS series. I don't remember if you used that or the TOEFL series for your English requirements.

race: Asian

citizenship: Filipino

is that what I'm suppose to write? cos my friends submitted their application and left the spaces blank....

i just wanna confirm a few details before im gonna send my application to Cali. Board of nursing through fedex.

1st Package (from me):

1. the application

2. two fbi cards (for the SSS. space what should I place? I ask someone from an agency and they told me to place FOREIGN EDUCATED NURSE)

3. bank cheque of $107 ( I placed there payable to: CALIFORNIA BOARD OF REGISTERED NURSING, is this correct?)

4. Authenticated diploma from my nursing school

5. Letter of explanation (since my hard license is not yet available, it will take 3 months for the releasing of the hard license)

2nd Package (directly from my nursing school):

1. 3 forms:

- Request for trancript

- Breakdown of educational program for international nursing programs

- Nursing program verification

2. Official transcript of records

Are all these correct? do i need any other file to provide? from the school?

Any comment is welcome, any answers are appreciated...thanx.....

Is it okay if i send my application with three others???

Our school said that they will send our TOR in one package (but with separate envelopes, of course)

Because me and my three friends thought it would be cheaper if we send it in one package.....

Also an employee from FEdex told us that most send their application by bundle of four.....

is this fine or BON wont allow this....

It is completely permitted. We did it even from Bangkok to CGFNS all of the time. As well as different Boards of Nursing.

Looks like you have everything covered, if it is the post about what is needed for the CA application.

Also don't forget the pictures.............you need two, passport size. :)
