Steps for a Senior in High School (UW System)

Published

What steps should I take? If it helps I think I'm choosing UW Parkside as my college. In the UW System I planned on Madison or Milwaukee, but that would leave me with 30k+ loans on graduation, while I wouldn't need loans for Parkside, so I've begun to think thats the smart choice for my BSN.

its been a few years since I graduated high school, so I'm entirely sure if what I have to say will apply directly to you...but I am planning on getting my BSN from UW Eau Claire and have been accepted there as a pre-nursing student so I can finish my last few pre-reqs. I can tell you however, that you should be comfortable with chemistry and math, and also get good grades. I'm not sure how UW Parkside does it, but UW Eau Claire accepts students into the nursing program based mostly on GPA and essay - so make sure you study hard and know why you want to become a nurse. The step I would suggest first, however (besides sending in the general college application) would be to talk to an advisor in the UW Parkside nursing program, as they will be able to tell you the best what they look for in nursing students and what steps you should take (talking to someone at UW Eau Claire was extremely helpful to me).

Thanks. I know I utterly aced Biology with a consistent 97% + my freshman year. But chyeah... I passed Chemistry with a D or C. (Darn rebelious I do no work for no body sophomoric phase :/) Thanks. I called and I'm setting up a meeting. *crosses fingers* It's pretty cool cause I guess UW-Parkside's nursing program is Milwaukees, just on the Parkside campus... and at the Parkside tuition rate lol.
