in a Step 2 Diet for nutritional therapy (coronary artery disease) only the leanest cuts of meats are allowed.
Shrimp are restricted because they are high in cholesterol although low in total fat.
I've seen some descriptions of shrimp that say "high cholesterol seafood can be part of a low-fat diet", or "shrimp drains the bad cholesterol from the blood"
Just looking for some clarification about shrimp and cholesterol.
thanks

I am curious also.
I suppose bacon wrapped shrimp is frowned upon:roll.

i believe moderation is the real issue. if you have shrimp on a rare occasion then it is probably ok to partake.

Step diets are not used in the aha anymore. Seems like I recall the cholesterol in shrimp is a different or better or some such . Anyway read that site and see what they have to say.
