STCC Nursing Fall 2009

Published

Hello! I just received my acceptance package to STCC for the fall of 2009. I am kinda shocked I actually made it in! Just wanted to see if there were anyone else on this forum who got in. :)

I signed up for Wednesday lab right at 8 AM.. no idea why I did that.. wasn't really thinking it would be nice to have a full day off.. Oh well (: At least I didn't sign up for the one Thursday morning!

You can still switch to the Friday lab if you want...that day off is nice for studying and doing clinical paperwork.

oh great I signed up for the thur lab. I just wanted to get most of my classes done in one day. Friday would just be two hours and I am done.

Yeah it doesn't make much difference I guess since the lab is only 2 hours long, I still have from 10 AM to the time I sleep to study/relax. If I didn't have the class, I would probably be sleeping in past that time anyways haha

If you live close to STCC, a Wed lab does get you out of bed. I sometimes forget not everybody has to travel 45 minutes like me lol. I thought that by having a day off I would be able to dedicate it to my kids but usually ended up juggling the kids, clinical paperwork, lab work, studying etc.

Oh wow 45 minutes away?! I don't think I could handle that. It takes me about 5 minutes to get there.

So jealous! I have to get up at 5am to get me and the kids out the door in time for class

Do we have class on both Thursday and Friday? My September calendar says so, but I registered for NURS-102 and 104, and both just say Thursday.

Yes, we have class every Thursday and Friday. And then whatever day you chose for lab, thats when you'll have lab (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday). And then clinicals will be Monday and Tuesday unless you got the Wednesday clinical.

That makes sense. Thanks. :)

No problem (: ..................... Has anyone looked at the first and second week readings? I just noted that in the Nursing Diagnosis book we are to read pages 1 to 75.. but 75 is in the middle of a section..?

Is the Clinical Calculation book to be read over the summer as well? Or do we find time to add it into our studies when we're in class..?

Yes we are to review med. cal. problems because they will be on exams.

FYI FYI FYI FYI

I also have great news for those interested in renting books. Yes I said rent a book. A nurse at Baystate mentioned to me how she rents her books from www.chegg.com or www.bigwords.com. So I checked it out this evening and saw books that were $99.00 can be rented for 35.00 per semester. Books that sell for 45.00 rent for 9.99. I personally liked chegg b/c it seemed easier to navigate.
