Stay away from Walden University

Published

Best advice for those looking into Walden AGNP or FNP programs is to go somewhere else. You will have issues finding a preceptor and Walden is not recognized by many doctors and NP as an AGNP & FNP school. Also your books will be your teacher, the professors do not prepare you for the tests and some (not all) have bias feedback. The tuition continues to rise as it is a for profit. Once again finding a preceptor with Walden is a great problem, plus they do not have agreements with many places and expect you to do the foot work to find them affiliations. Stay away, they have a very low retention rate for many reasons.

OP is absolutely false. Even a lot of brick and mortar schools require their students to find their own preceptors. I have all mine lined up (takes some work and networking) but found that my preceptors and health systems were excited to have me learn with them. Online learning can be more difficult than in class learning - you're the one that determines how much effort you put in, just like anywhere else. My advice -try harder and don't give up.

Btw. I graduate in November and have already received calls from places interested me (ACNP) and well aware that I attended walden.

HOw was the program? What is your discussion platform?

I have read all the positive and the negative. I have decided to start the AGNP program May 31 2016. How is everyone doing now? Please email me anything you have from the program that may help me please. [email protected].

Larry did you stay with Walden's AGACNP program , and thoughts on the program?

Hello BlackHawk,

I am going to have to disagree with you on your statements about Walden University. I am enrolled in the AGPCNP Program and yes it is the students responsibility to find their preceptors, this information is given to all students when enrolling so you know what the expectations are in advance. Any advanced nursing program is going to be a challenge as it should be. I have been in this program since April of 2018 and am doing well with hard work and determination. I think it is unfair to make such broad negative statements about Walden. I have not had any negative feedback from colleagues, Walden is accredited and sets high expectations for their students. I am proud to be affiliated with Walden. I know what I invest of myself in this program will determine how well I do in the end. I am sorry you feel the way you do, maybe Walden is just not right for you.

Most of the people who complain are the ones who are not accepted by the school or who are accepted but failing or did not graduate, and that's the truth. I am currently taking up MSN at Walden University, and my experience has been pleasant and challenging. They require students to exert great efforts to accomplish all the assignments, projects, and other tasks. I am graduating soon with a GPA of 4.0, and I am so excited about it. If the school did not accept you or if you are a poor performer, don't be bitter about it, instead do better.

If the school did not accept you...

lol. This is one of the silliest things I've heard in a long time.

Walden not accepting someone. Too funny.

(That was my immediate thought, as well.)
