The short story is...I applied to Capella and Jacksonville...got accepted to both. Initially enrollment was mooth with both. However, I wasn't completely settled on either so I applied to . The Capella enrollment officer called tonight to see where things stood. I told him I was still exploring my options and had applied to WGU. He became audibly angry (my husband could hear him through the receiver) and rudely said " what are you even looking for?! Im confused?" His tone put me off so I said I became defensive saying I was looking at cost , length of Timsee till completion etc and before I could finish he loudly snapped " do you just want me to withdraw you?!"(umm....I hadn't accepted...sure as hell wasn't going to now)...and I said "yes!"...my husband was like with?? Was that? I cannot believe any professional would speak to a potential student that way. I was blown away by how he spoke to me! So......I would stay away. Pretty sure ill be at WGU ..... Even Jacksonville was kind in understanding they weren't the only one on my list. Unbelievable. But it did just happen a half hour ago so I guess im still in shock. Id hate to think how id be treated as a student at Capella if this is how they were trying convince me to join!!

WGU Rocks! I just started on 3/1 and so far love it! Forget that scumbag from Capella.

You assumed this guy was a 'professional' when he is most likely an admissions rep who is paid by commission/bonuses to get as many people to enroll as possible. Hence, the high-pressure sales tactics came out.

I am sorry about your unpleasant experience. I, too, am in the process of attempting to get admitted into 's RN-to-BSN completion program.

Yes a coworker of mine went to and loved it ..went on to get her MSN...I have been a nurse for 10 years and finally decided to go for it! So I was just appalled at that behavior. .but made my decision easy! Ive completed everything for WGU so just waiting to hear about how many credits I'll need ! Thanks for the encouragement! I have read about so many schools online and WGU gets great reviews..only fair to let someone else in my position know about Capella!

I'm a two-time grad. Here's the difference: WGU is non-profit. The enrollment counselors are paid the same whether you enroll or not. No pressure. In fact, they try to screen out folks who are NOT a good fit for the school (not everyone thrives in the online environment- which is OK)

Yes. I read a statistic last night that admits only 35 percent of all people who apply, so the admissions counselors are definitely determining if applicants will actually thrive with online learning.

Capella was one that hounded me when I emailed them asking for info. I was looking at many schools and some called me relentlessly. I decided to go to GCU because they left me alone and let me drive my own academic train. I'm proud to say I graduate in May with my BSN:) . Go LOPES!

I'm also a grad - go to WGU, you won't regret it! :)

WGU asks you questions (more than once) to determine if you understand and are compatible with the program, plus there's a (minimal) admission test. It's not 'difficult' to get in, but they certainly aren't going to hound you if you don't want to enroll. :) And it's going to be a heck of a lot cheaper than Capella.
