Anyone else taking statistics this semester? Classes started today and I'm already feeling overwhelmed!
I should find out on Tuesday.
The test covered chapter 1, 2 and parts of 9.
It asked "find the mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation of the population..."
Construct a stem and leaf chart.
Construct frequency distribution chart.
A few questions about the empirical rule and chebychev's theorum.
A question about correlation. (positive or negative)
And a linear regression question.
It seems like a lot writing it out, but using my calculator it took 10-15 min or so to do all this. Easy!

A lot of instructors require you to write out the problems including the work you did to get the answer, that in itself can take a lifetime once you get into later chapters.
Very odd, I found statistics much easier than college algebra. I guess I had a good teacher. Oh, and if you're struggling at any point talk to your teacher, use (if you have one) a math lab.
Oh and she doesn't require you to show your work. I actually did show my work on some of the problems, but her way of teaching is to use the calculator to do the work, so there really isn't any "work" to show.
For me it was always helpful to show every little detail since I would miss a problem every so often and my instructor or those in the math lab could tell me where I went wrong.
Yeah, that's true. Just some of the stuff didn't need work shown. Like for the stem and leaf plot, I just wrote it out, so that's my work. Then for the "find the mean..." that;s just plugging in numbers and letting the calculator do it.
For the empirical graph problems, I did draw out the graph and labeled and that helped a lot.
I'm sure later on it'll get harder.
