Starting RN wage in Chicago, IL

Published

Hello, everyone I actually graduate next week from nursing school and will be taking my NCLEX in June. I will be moving to Chicago with my family this summer, just need some insight into the starting wage as a RN there. Any help would be much appreciated thank you!

When I started 2 years ago in the ED (which is critical care), my base rate was $26/hr. That's before shift differentials, though - if you work Second or Third shift then you'll be paid extra for it.

Thank you so much!

Hi, how about in Nursing Home setting, is it still 27 per hour rate for a newbie nurse ?

Nursing home setting in our area. Typically would give you $28 as a new graduate.

Getting a raise would take years and would be hard so I hope they give you $28. (RN)

The new graduates I worked with at a Chicago children's hospital started at $27/hr back in December.
