I am so excited that nursing school starts for me in six days! I do not want to wait anymore! I also have orientation this Friday from 1:00-3:00pm. Just one question: why is my school's orientation being held three days before school starts because I know that most nursing schools do their orientations almost two months before school starts. And what exactly do you do at orientation? I only know that we have the nursing department review our physical examination papers and we get our textbooks, uniforms, etc. But what else happens at orientation?? I want to start school now! LOL! Is anyone else starting school next week or in a few weeks?

You will get an intro to the staff, go over the handbook, possibly get your schedules, get your ID card. Good luck I remember being there and now I am almost done. I couldnt wait to start but am glad I am almost done.

I start the last part of August. I have been an LPN for over 6 years and an now going back for the RN program. My advice, if you have the option to get your LPN and then stopping before finishing DON'T. I did and I regret it. Wish I had stayed in when I was there, but that was then and now I am finally going back.
Long story short it wont be fun but will be rewarding at the end. Good luck to you and hold on to that excitement. You will need it!

it wasn't long ago when i was in the same exact circumstance as you now. the things that were listed by others here did occur. in my orientation, we covered basic nursing skills, e.g. injection sites and how to give injections them, etc. we read company policy and protocols. we're told where to find things which is important when you are pressed for time. the first few weeks were actually fun and not overwhelming at all. i wouldn't say that i'd go back but definitely a great learning experience overall.
