Starting LPN Program in April!!

Published

Hello all! I'm fairly new to the site, therefore figured I should give somewhat of an introduction. Well assuming that everything will go as intended with my finances, I will be starting Practical Nursing school this Spring!! It took me awhile to decide that the field of Nursing was my true calling, however according to a few fortune tellers it was always in the cards for me. I have a knack for caring for and helping others, so why not make a profession out of it right? Aside from a challenge I'm not too sure what to expect out of the program, the fact that I have two little ones doesn't quite help to ease my apprehension.lol Nevertheless, I am elated to take this life changing step in my life and I look forward to a rewarding outcome. On that note feel free to shower me with your words of wisdom! Peace.

Im new here too... Im applying to start LPN in NYC this fall. I just submitted my application and am just missing the fee and my transcripts!! Thankfully its a city school so it should be free for me. Im kind of on the same boat--- people keep telling me Id be good for nursing but I rather do the bridge program than compete with sooo many others just to get into the regular nursing program. Im hesitant but excited to start this new chapter, although it feels weird going back to school after 6 years (Im 25). My longer term goal is to become a midwife!!!

Specializes in Neonatal and Pediatric ICU Nurse.

I tried 2 times to go straight into the ADN program, but never could get in. I decided I my as well start somewhere then just doing nothing. Plus my sciences have 5 years and then expire. I'm glad I did VN, I learned a lot. I was a single mom with 2 small kids, so if I can do it anyone can. I definitely don't want to stop here, I want my MSN one day, but 1 step at a time. Good luck to everyone.

I fall significantly further in love with this website each day. Seriously, I appreciate everyone's compassion and empathy for one another's current position; rather it be as a new student, prospective student, failing student, LPN, RN, NP, CNM, etc. I love the idea of knowing that there will always be someone on here whom I can relate to. I too have little ones, a 3 month old and a 17 month old and I am scared out of my mind about mixing my a Nursing program with parenting such young children... I'm taking things one prayer at a time though. Not sure I could function any other way.
