Hello all! I'm fairly new to the site, therefore figured I should give somewhat of an introduction. Well assuming that everything will go as intended with my finances, I will be starting Practical Nursing school this Spring!! It took me awhile to decide that the field of Nursing was my true calling, however according to a few fortune tellers it was always in the cards for me. I have a knack for caring for and helping others, so why not make a profession out of it right? Aside from a challenge I'm not too sure what to expect out of the program, the fact that I have two little ones doesn't quite help to ease my apprehension.lol Nevertheless, I am elated to take this life changing step in my life and I look forward to a rewarding outcome. On that note feel free to shower me with your words of wisdom! Peace.

Hey Love! I don't have much on offer in the wisdom category since I am anticipating starting my LVN program in April too! Impatience is everywhere huh? Lol. What state are you in?

Welcome to AllNurses!!

I have been a nurse for about 8 years...7 as a LPN. I have had a fulfilling career in Rehab, Home Health, and Pediatrics. I also had an opportunity to be contracted to work with Medicare, giving me another side of healthcare and the importance of documentation and how important that documentation presents the work that we do. The LPN program is VERY intensive, and gives a great base in nursing, especially if you choose to pursue your RN. Keep asking questions, get a study group AND a study plan, learn the nursing process, and keep it all in perspective on how you want and how far you want to take your career. Good Luck!!!

I am six weeks into the program and I remember clearly what our instuctor said on the first day, "you will not have time for anything except nursing school." She was right. Time management is SOOO essential. If you are not able to stick to a strict time management schedule you will fall behind and then it snow-balls out of control. BUT...all that said I do love it!

Wow, thanks for all of the extremely constructive feedback! As nervous as I am, I am actually anticipating the intensity of the program. I trust that I will persevere by any means necessary. Hunnybunches, I am in Western NY. What about you? Congrats by the way! This is the beginning of the rest our lives. God willing.

I agree and i can not wait to get it started! I am in So Cal (southern California). I would say that I would keep you update on how I am surviving my program but we shall see if it allows for that. Haha.

Congrats! I am fairly new to this site too. I graduated the LVN program here in Nor Cal in May of 2012. I loved my nursing school and the clinical experience was amazing. Study hard! Prioritize! Good luck! If you need advice for anything let me know!

Lol hunnybunches. We'll have to encourage one another from a distance then. Kdevera, I will most certainly take you up on that offer. I'm sure I'll have TONS of questions and concerns. Congratulations to you! Was it easy to land a job afterwards??

You can do it, just don't let yourself get behind. Whenever I had a free time during school I would get ahead on my homework so I could focus more on studying or clinical paperwork. I know the first semester we literally had a test everyday, so be sure to study!! However, make sure you give yourself some "me" time and relax. I just graduated in December and found out today that I passed boards. This feeling is so worth it in the end!!

DOUBLE CONGRATS!!!! People such as yourself give me hope. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thank you! I recently took my NCLEX a couple of weeks ago and from the Pearson Vue trick I passed. It took Sacramento a while to send out eligibility packets out after graduating and my study regimen was legit, ran into a few things that set me behind a month. Initially I wanted to take my boards in October but that didn't happen. It's okay though. I'm done with it and now just waiting for my official letter so I can pay for my license. I have had job offers but I wasn't licensed yet. So hopefully I find something. I'm sure ill land a job.
