Starting in the fall

Hello. Can anyone help? I am done with ALL my other classes, well after micro this summer. All I will have left are the nursing courses. Has anyone done this and this should be a good thing?

What is your question?

Specializes in Mental Health.

Did we do our prerequisites and then our nursing classes? Yes, of course? :p

Has anyone done this and this should be a good thing?

Nope, it's 100% bad.

I kid, I kid, but seriously - what's the question? :o

I wanted to make sure that was a good move. That I will be done with all of my other sciences, and to be able to focus on just the clinicals and the nursing. I know this is NO JOKE. I know it is going to be hard core. I am an IT major who is changing my career. Right now, I am a network engineer. I WANT to be a nurse. Always have. My mind got changed years ago by a counselor that said IT was the wave. I have made lots of money. BUT I want to go after what I originally wanted. Nursing. A and P 1 and 2 were the hardest course work out of ALL my years in college. I made it. Moving on this summer with micro. Thanks for replying. Just wanted to reach out. Get input. Get help and ideas. I don't know s@#$.

I'm not sure why it would be a bad move? Getting things done is always great, especially if you're maintaining decent grades. Usually classes like A&P, Micro etc are pre-requisites; you generally complete those before you're officially accepted into a nursing program because everything that you do in the nursing program builds on those.

As an aside, if the RN in your username is referring to 'registered nurse', you might wanna change it.

If you've got any questions, feel free to ask 'em and we'll do our best to answer them and explain stuff! ?

As far as I know, you can't even get into nursing school without having your pre-requisites done. Have you applied to nursing school yet?

YES!!! Orientation this Wednesday. At this college, you can take the a and p along with nursing courses. I did not want to go this way. I got it done. How was micro in your opinion?

Oh that's rad, I'm glad you are choosing to take your sciences first!

Micro wasn't bad - depends on the professor really I think. I had a lot of critical thinking type questions from my professor which made the class way more fun. Things like "Would use use penicillin on a mycoplasma? Why or why not?" made you think not only about the way that certain abx worked, but also the characteristics of bacteria that you'd covered so far.

There is a fair bit of rote memorization, but it does start switching about midway through the semester when you start connecting the dots.

Lab was a blast - absolutely loved it and I wish I could take more classes like it!
