Hi, I am a new LPN and have decided to do the excelsior RN program. I am getting ready to apply, I've read on here it takes about 2 weeks for the whole application process. I would like to get started on the Nursing exams, I have all my prereqs from a local university, all taken within the last 4 years. Do I have to wait the two weeks or can I go ahead and enroll and get started on the classes? Or do I have to wait for the evaluation? I'm a little confused..I know you can take NC1 without enrolling but I'm assuming I cant take NC1 before I get accepted and evaluated..??
Also what materials do you need for a Nursing Concepts class?
I know you need a study guide and can take practice tests is that it? are there any books or anything?
Thanks in advance!

You can take the first exam, which is no longer NC1, it's now called Health Safety. The other exams you would have to be enrolled before taking them. You can print out the content guide for Health Safety the recommended materials are listed there as well. You can also pay and take the practice exam for Health Safety, it gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect on the real exam.
You are in pretty good shape, you have no prereqs to take and you already have a pretty good concept of the material since you're an LPN. good luck with your studies.

You can also find some good deals at www.barnesandnobles.com. I was able to purchase 3 used books in great condition for under 125.00 which would easily have been double if purchased new.
