Starting CNA training while in school full time

I currently have 12 credits for college and I'm starting CNA training in February any advice for the CNA course or for the job in general?! Thanks

IMO the class is simple. Just learn your skills backwards and forwards! you will need it for your test. Other than that you should have no problem, the book work is very easy as is the written part of the state test. The skills test is not hard...just annoying because you have someone breathing down your back and grading your every move while you are trying to prefrom skills on a patient. I think you will be able to handle it with your other course load though.

The actual job, i'm not going to lie is not a piece of cake. I like it, but I will admit I am only doing it while in nursing school, and could not handle it for any longer than that. It is very busy, and stressful, but so worth it I think. I feel very prepared going into nursing school. For now at least lol. I think you will be pleased with the outcome.

Good-Luck :)

The class requires common sense and no outside studying. It is so basic!

As for the job itself, it depends. Working as a CNA in a LTC facility is completely different from a hospital CNA. I worked at a LTC facility for a couple of months and it is NOT for me. Way too much physical labor, very little use for actual nursing skills. I LOVE my peds job! I do all the vitals, I&Os, catheter/wound vac/drains care, and the nurses are awesome about letting me help/watch them with their nursing tasks.

Omg! I am feeling the same way! My school offered the CNA program last semester. I signed up but the teacher became ill and they cancelled the program. This spring I signed up for 17 hrs( the last of my nursing prerequisite classes) and the inform me that the CNA program is back on. I am so scared. It's a night class Mondays and Wednesdays (6-9 pm) and my prerequisite classes are spread out through the week so I am going for it! I want to be able to work part time during nursing school. I hope this was the right decision. Has anyone else taken the CNA program while taking a full load?
