I did my block 1 clinicals at the hospital where I now work as an aide - will be doing block 2 clinicals in a different hospital that I know absolutely nothing about. I am both nervous and excited at the same time. I've been so busy the past few months - this is my first posting to allnurses in a while now, but I may come back on here now a bit more frequently. I'll let you guys know how it went when I get back home later today........
Well, I'm back home again...... First day of block 2 acute care clinicals went very well. Picked my patient, intro'd myself to the RN, did a complete head to toe assessment of my patient with my instructor watching, who said I did very, very well. Also had time to get a good start on my care plan and written nursing diagnoses/interventions. All in all a good and productive day. Hopefully I will be passing PO meds and giving sub-Q injections tomorrow. I've actually done both of these things in block 1, but in our program you still have to have the instructor check you off the very first time in a new block, even if you've done it before.
