random topic/mini life story....

i'm very excited to start cna class today :)

i don't know how it is in other community colleges, but at rock valley college, you need a CNA certificate as well as the usual pre reqs in order to apply to the ADN program. i'm just glad to FINALLY get started. plus i can't find a job in town. the gas is killing me, and i know that there are tons of places hiring CNAs close to home. i graduated high school in 2007 and haven't done anything towards further education. don't really know why i was slacking, but seeing all of my peers starting their new careers and having a bachelors degree under their belts was really a wake up call/slap to the face/boot to the butt. i'm a little nervous about starting school again, but i think it will only take a little bit of time for me to get back into the swing of things. i'm very determined, and i know i can get the best grades, i just have to stay focused. i was the kid in high school that always had teachers saying "you're so smart, why don't you just apply yourself?" i had a better ACT score than half the people in the top of my graduating class, i jus. i'm a lot more motivated now. i definitely plan on becoming an APN, i'm thinking nurse midwifery. thats what my passion is. i know that i can't slack and have to be the best in order to stand out and be able to get accepted to grad school.

anyway, like i said before, i'm just glad that i'm finally on my way. thanks for reading :)

Congratulations on getting your start towards what will hopefully be a great career. Getting my CNA class was a real eye opener for me.

Congrats. I started my class today and boy was it long. Great info but long ( son kept me up last night)

Congrats on starting school again! CNA courses are tough...Its a lot of info! Study everyday, make flash cards for terms, practice your skills at home, and read your book!!! This is a great time to develop good study skills! Good luck!

Congratulations and good luck.

The best time saver for me was to take the tests at end of chapters, first, then study what I didn't know. The text books tend to be large and in my class we went through 2-3 chapters each class. I ultimately read all the info in the text book.

Specializes in Geriatrics.

Congratulations on starting your CNA class!

I personally just finished my CNA classes, waiting to start clinicals now. The material itself was easy enough; however, the class was super fast-paced. When I signed up for the class, I was told it'd be 6-8 weeks; however, it wound up being only 3 weeks and we had a lot of territory to cover in a short period of time. I'm still worried about the clinicals just cause we barely practiced the skills in class; however, I plan to practice them as much as possible on friends and also keep watching the instruction videos until I have them down pat.

Congrats on starting class!!!

Congratulations! How is it going so far?

i appreciate all of you responding! i like being part of this social network. just getting a reply is such motivation and i really feel the support. we just finished the first week! class is going great. got 100% on the first quiz and 92% on another. we have our first test on monday and start clinicals tuesday. we learn so much so soon. i love my instructors and i'm getting to know my classmates. it took me a few chapters to figure out the best way to study. i do know that i need all of the resources offered. i'm going to take full advantage of them. thanks again for everyone responding! much love :inlove:

Congratulations! How did you like the class? I know its been awhile since you posted this, but i start the cna course at rvc this spring. Wanted to see what to expect
