Anyone familiar with Stanly Community College? I was just wondering if anyone was accepted there before and what is considered a "good" teas score.

Thanks for any info!

Hi, I know this is a late response, but I figured better late than never! Stanly TEAS scores are generally in the mid to upper 80's, but I know people that have been waitlisted and made it in with scores in the high 70's.

Best wishes to you!

I received my acceptance letter for SCC about a month ago. My highest TEAS score was 81.2. Stanly does not have a wait list anymore. They take the top 60 TEAS scores....no wait list. It starts over every year. This coming year they will be using the 5.0 version of the TEAS. I have the 5.0 study book if you are interested. I would try to score at least above an 80. However, I would try for 85+.

Congrats to you Jess! I'm in the program currently :) The wait list I was speaking of is where they rank the ones less than the top 60, and then pull from if people get accepted elsewhere, or just change their minds for some reason. I'm sure I'll see you in August, some if us will come speak to you probably the first day of classes! If you have any questions in the meantime, I'll be glad to answer the best I know how.

Awesome! I was thinking about how they used to do it. I am so glad they don't do it that way anymore. You could be on the wait list for years before you got in. I do think the TEAS is an interesting way to go though. SCC is the only school I know of around here that just goes by the TEAS score. I honestly didn't expect to get in with just a 81.2, but I did.

How do you like it so far? Are you pleased with the nursing education you are getting at Stanly? Do you like the teachers? What has been the hardest part so far?

I have tried to make it easier on myself by completing everything (A&P, Psych, Sociology, English, etc) before I start the ADN program. I don't think I could do all that while taking the NUR classes too!

Looking back, I think the TEAS is probably a pretty good way to go. It seems to be a pretty good measure of critical thinking, which I'm learning more and more is so important. I have been reading the posts on this site for a couple years now and agree that until you are in a program, there's really no way to understand how hard it actually is.

I came to nursing as a second career when the opportunity presented itself. I wound up applying at the end of summer '09 and subsequently had 2 semesters to get the co-reqs that you spoke of done. I can't tell you how glad you will be that you don't also have those to worry about! Good for you!!

The instructors, in my opinion, are all great. We don't always understand why they require certain things of us, but it makes the ride a whole lot easier if you just roll with it. Some are able to do that better than others and it definitely affects your stress level, lol! My best advice is to trust that they know way more than we do. The NCLEX scores speak for themselves, obviously what they are doing and how they do it, works. Do your reading, watch your lectures more than once (they're recorded), and get in a good study group. Use your Senior buddy - we've been where you are and those that volunteer to be buddies really do want you to succeed!

The hardest part for me has been taking the information learned and being able to interpret it to answer the test questions. It all comes back to critical thinking and interpretation.

It is the most stressful thing I have ever done, and like I said, I didn't at all expect it to be easy. However, after a year done, I know there is an end in sight and it will all be worth it!

duplicated post..oops!

I was also just accepted into the nursing program for the fall. I made an 83.

I heard that the teas 5.0 was supposed to be a bit more difficult. Is that true?

I really have no idea about the different versions..I would think that ATI would work very hard to keep content consistent even when updating. I made an 87.6, and don't really think I've given it a thought while progressing through classes. Don't get too caught up in it :) if you're in, it doesn't really matter. Congrats to you!

Congratulations! I guess we will be seeing each other soon. I have been so excited I can hardly sleep. I am counting down the days. I don't know if the TEAS V is harder. I had actually been studying the V version that I bought from ATI's website without realizing it. I think they are switching to the V version next year. Oh well. I got in so who cares what I studied! LOL

Do you live in Stanly county?

Do you know if they will use the same books as last fall? If so, would you be interested in selling them?

We actually will use all our resources throughout the duration, or at least I plan to. I have not heard of any proposed changes, though.
