I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but here it goes anyway. I have an interview on Monday for a weekend option RN position. I only have experience as a psych nurse straight out of nursing school (July 2009), but I've been out of the clinical field since Jan. 2012 due to needing to take care of family. I'm hoping I'll get a good orientation assuming I get the job, but I could really use some tips. The unit was described to me a "a combination of short stay/rehab and 6 LTC beds".
What should I ask at the interview? Staff/patient ratio, orientation length, charting, why should I work here? But what else?

You should ask if you get paid after your shifts ends- to do notes or if notes need to be done sometime during your shift? Do they have a wound nurse, if not you will be doing all the dressing changes, Do they have computerized MAR and TAR? Is there a supervisor on each shift? If there is a new admit, who does the paperwork- you or an admissions nurse (very time consuming)?

OP if a place says if you're off the clock but you still have to finish your charting, look elsewhere.
