staff pay rates in the bay area?

Published

I just interviewed with Kaiser in Oakland and I am wanting to relocate from out of state. We did not discuss wages and don't want to look like I'm greedy but I need to know the pay rates for an experienced RN in the bay area. I have been an RN for 20+ yrs in M/S and tele. We also touched on per diem but if a full time position pays well enough I could really use the benefits.

Thanks so much!!

You could call the HR department where you want to work and ask them what their pay scale is for per diem and for FT FN's. Then you could sort of figure out what they might offer you. Good luck!

The two RNs I know who work in the bay area (not for Kaiser, but in large hospitals) make $45-56/hour. The $56 is with no benefits.

Check the California Nurses Association website. Last time I looked, they had the current Kaiser contract online.

I've found out that most hospitals in Bay area are giving higher rate than any other place or state. Is it real that some hospitals dont give benefits even you get a higher pay rate? Im planning to join KP or John Muir but I don't know which one is better.

arys1075,

Here's a link to the CNA model contracts page which will give you info on current contract pay rates for Kaiser, Sutter, etc.

I recently read that John Muir is rated in the top 10 hospitals statewide, and Kaiser Norcal is in the top 25. I have a friend at Kaiser Walnut Creek who works per diem (aka no benefits) and makes $60/hr.
