Kaiser is a union run hospital. Your salary is based on the number of years of relevant experience. You should contact Kaiser directly. They have several websites and you can look at the available jobs online. The Bay Area has higher pay scales because it is so expensive to live here. So take the pay with a grain of salt. The reputation varies, but nurses who work there really like it. Hope that helps.

CNA (Calfornia Nurses Association, the union that bargains for Kaiser nurses):

They have multiple hospitals in the Bay Area, and many more in northern CA as well.

And many of them have specialties, so please check into that as well. Redwood City and Oakland specialize in neuro-surgery so most with those type of issues go to those two facilities.

And higher pay rate also means higher cost of living as well as higher taxes.

Very small two bedroom home in the suburbs of SF can start at $650,00 plus and I mean small. Same home in another city and state would be about a $100,000 or so.

1. Go to the California Nurses Association web site.

2. Click on the 'Facilities & bargaining' link

3. Click on the 'Kaiser' link

4. Click on the 'CNA Contract' link.

5. Scroll to the last page -- there are Kaiser's hourly wages, plain as day.

Everything that is not Kaiser Sacramento, Roseville, South Sacramento, or Fresno is really considered Bay Area for Northern California. They are aligning their wages so that every nurse in Kaiser's Northern CA region will be paid from the same scale. Great pay and great benefits with one of the best retirement plans anyone has to offer. Downside is you get Kaiser's health insurance, and that may not be a downside for some (unless you need a kidney transplant).

Aside from KP, which hospital is well known and giving full benefits and higher wages?

All the larger hospitals will have good benefits and comparable wages. Personally, I would not work for Kaiser. While the inpt facilities are good in terms of pt care, I have such low regard for the clinics that I would not recommend Kaiser coverage for anyone.

I've asked you about why you feel this way before, and you never answer. It would be good to hear why you feel so strongly against Kaiser.

I believe every hospital has it's issues, not just Kaiser.

I work for them and they treat their nurses well...esp. with the retirement package they offer, and the pay! And the incentives to work on your weekend off...the pay is amazing for the consecutive weekend deal.

So, do you care to share your experience as to why you think they are so bad??

Curious to see if you will answer.

That's what I heard about Kaiser. They have better pay rate, benefits, incentives. Some of my batch who just recently left for Kaiser have positive issues about KP regardless of cost of living in Bay area. The whole family is just curious about living in NorCal and we plan to move if ever I get the right hospital & right place to live in. Can i PM you?

If its bene's that you want no one can top UC hospitals...the retirement is tops. Pay= tops is KP second down Sutter, Third down CHW bottom of list UC Davis.

Not sure where shriners slides in...

I'm torn between Sutter and UC as far as best. IMO, P2

I work for CHW--Sequoia Hospital In Redwood City California and you will get a vERY HIGH SALARY.
