Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows any info about St. Vincent's nursing program in queens. I have an admissions interview with them next week and i was just curious if anyone knew what kind of questions they ask. I'm a bit nervous so i'm trying to somewhat prepare myself for the interview. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

For my interview we just went through my test score results and my transcripts. I was asked the standard "why do you want to become a nurse?" Basically we just went through everything from high school until now and this is pretty much your chance to tell them why you'd be a good addition to their school. Hope that helps =]

Hey! First Congrats on gettin an interview!
I'll be starting Saint Vincents this Fall, and just got through all that you're going through now, so I know what you must be feeling :).
Like the previous poster said, during my interview we pretty much went through my past transcripts, my score on the entrance exam. Possible credit transfers etc. Then we went through why I wanted to be a nurse, especially given my career change. They also asked how I found out about Saint Vincents, and why I was interested in going there.
We also did a walkthrough of the school, looked at the classrooms, and went through pretty much a complete rundown of the program and its future.
Hope this helps! Just go in there confident, and stay positive and smile .
Thank you so much for sharing your experience; that really did help. If you don't mind me asking, how long after the interview did they tell you if you were accepted or not? And how did they tell you (ex.letter phone call, etc.) ?
Thanks again,
:stdnrsrck:
It was about 2-3 weeks after the interview that I recieved "THE" letter lol. They dont give any acceptance or rejction info over the phone or by email.
Great, Thank you

tell you acceptance or rejection over the phone( the More of a pest you are the easier it is to get your answer) they sometimes do. as for the interview they not only care that you wanna be IN nursing school they wanna know what your goals are after GN. why do you wanna be a nurse? what type of nurse do you wanna be? are you gonna continue your education in nursing. they wanna see that this is a well thought out plan and not just another job switch. they hold a certain amount of spaces for students who have no prereq's, so you will never be alone if you have none :} :paw: ps: generally speaking the secretary ms. soto is not the best to get info from, if you can, try to speek to the actual nursing staff or the person who you interviewed with( they have more say and they are on the commitee of admission & acceptance):argue:
CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK HOPE TO SEE YOU AROUND!

Ohhh thank you, that was really helpful. Are you curently in SVCMC?
I was pretty confident, but still unsure because I knew how competitive gettin into nursing school is! I don't remember my exact score for the entrance exam but I had a 90 something in math and 80 something on the english. I had a few prereqs, but none of the sciences.
